If all the people who wouldn't vote for him simply because they think he can't win would vote for him then he'd have an undeniable shot. It's as simple as that.

I also forgot to mention that he is consistently drawing larger crowds than other candidates in both parties everywhere he goes.

To the dismay some idealists, Sanders rejected the idea of running for president as an independent. “No matter what I do, I will not be a spoiler,” Sanders said. “I will not play that role in helping to elect some right-wing Republican as President of the United States.”
So he says now. But after being subjected to the Clinton war machine for an entire primary he'll be less than gracious, especially if he believes he can steal enough independents to win as an Independent.

I agree the effects are reduced. But Employers make rational decisions. In countries with maternity leave, we see them doing so. They will continue to do so. See that earlier bit about employers in Britain? They have parental leave for both genders there, too. And the effect is problematic for women.

As I said, I'm on the fence on this - I agree with Sanders it's a "pro family" policy. It's also a "pro-baby" policy, and I'm one of those weirdo's who thinks that, if we are going to depend on future generations to support us, we should remember to have them. I am unsure if it's a "pro family earning a good income" policy, and I think it has unfair unintended consequences. Namely:

Pew Research and the OECD comes to the same conclusion that cpwill does:
Ever hear the saying about correlation not necessarily being causation? It is a pretty important concept.

Re: Bernie Sanders lays out REAL family values platform

I admire Sanders conviction and believe that he feels what he is proposing would help American families but I have to disagree somewhat. Sometimes you have to look beyond intent and look at the bigger picture. I feel that such legislation (among some of his other proposals) will only spur more US businesses to outsource or move overseas into countries that do not place such a financial burden and inconsistent worker onto the business. It also makes investing in employee replacing technologies more appealing.

While I do not believe Sanders bill will push us over the edge I do believe it will further erode our competitive business environment when frankly we need to spur more incentive to run a business here and not drive more away. Parental leave, sick leave, and vacation time are great but those are not going to do a lot of good if the jobs are not there to be had.

The critics have no problem maintaining the Pentagons budget which is way past legitimate defense, or increasing Israel's welfare check, but this, oh hell no!

Last week, Bernie Sanders, the Senator from Vermont and only announced challenger to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, took a strong stand for everyday people. He proposed a financial transactions tax (FTT), effectively a Wall Street sales tax, and to use the revenue to make public colleges tuition free.
That's a little too far, public college should be cheaper by half, but not free.

I also don't trust congress to keep the FTT revenue dedicated to college. They'll eventually use it for everything else
