Washington (CNN)Ben Carson said Wednesday night that he was "irritated" by the comparison between the fight for same-sex marriage rights and the Civil Rights Movement because there's no overt segregation against gays.

Speaking on Fox News' "Special Report", Carson elaborated on his remarks on CNN in March that he believes being gay is a choice because people "go into prison straight -- and when they come out, they're gay."

You know, I really don't much care for Carson's thinking about gays, but holy **** did you deceptively edit that clip from the story. Here is the very next sentence:

The GOP presidential contender told host Brett Baier that he "shouldn't have allowed my emotions" into the conversation, but was reacting to CNN host Chris Cuomo's line of questioning on the issue.

Instead of big bold letters of a bright color of what he said some time ago, with no explanation, you might have included that sentence where he starts to explain his thinking and his mistake. If you have to be so dishonest to make a point, that is a problem with you, and you might want to stop advocating for gays since you harm them more than you help with **** like this.

I agree with him when he says the gay rights movement is not the same as the civil rights movement. You cant really compare the gay rights movement of today to discrimination of blacks during the civil rights movement. The two are nowhere near close. I am not saying that to in anyway diminish the importance of equal rights, but it is really not the same.

Where is the mistake? It isn't as if he said that he was wrong....he gave an apology that wasn't really an apology. He still actually believes what he said, he's just saying that he shouldn't have said it. Doh!

I don't think anyone has ever tried to say that they are the same. But they involve similar issues and it is fair to draw comparisons to the two. Just because you compare two movements does not mean that you are equating them.
Carson is an idiot.

Particularly since the arguments currently made against same-sex marriage are basically word-for-word copies of the arguments that were made against interracial marriage. If you're gonna make the same arguments as those guys, I'm going to draw the comparison to try and highlight why you are wrong! Don't know why that bothers Christians so much.

I dont know anybody that has ever said they are the same in regards to suffering, slaver etc, that would just be stupid and I agree they are not the same in that regard . . while gays have been killed and fired and defined service that overall scope of the discrimination is not nearly the sam


where they are in fact that same though is they are both equal rights issues, they are civil rights issues . . . and it is a matter of people fighting to not be treated as lessers . . civil rights is not soley and only about blacks its about equality and in that regard they are the same and many court cases have already referred to this factual similarity . . .

No matter how much you want them to be, no matter how many times you reply it won't be. What on earth does comparing two movements have to do with religion? Nothing anyone on here said had anything to do with religion.

Comparing two things is not the same thing as saying the two things are the same.

Christians tend to be the ones on the other side of the argument, and are the ones who act all insulted when I point out the similarities between their arguments and the ones against interracial marriage several decades ago. (it's against tradition, it's unnatural, it's against the will of god, it's against the will of the people, etc etc)

it only bothers a particular type of Christian. One who is a bigot but yet also happens to claim Christianity.
But in reality thier defensiveness about being a biogt has nothgin to do with Christianity, even if they or others try to make it. THeres nothing in Christianity that forces a person to be against equal rights. Its sad that some Christians try to sell that lie.
 
gay rights are urgent urges, civil rights can wait as always!
