What on earth does comparing two movements have to do with religion? Nothing anyone on here said had anything to do with religion.

You cant really compare the gay rights movement of today to discrimination of blacks during the civil rights movement. The two are nowhere near close. I am not saying that to in anyway diminish the importance of equal rights, but it is really not the same.
Comparing two things is not the same thing as saying the two things are the same.

So being beaten up or killed, or losing one's job, is "nothing"?

Christians tend to be the ones on the other side of the argument, and are the ones who act all insulted when I point out the similarities between their arguments and the ones against interracial marriage several decades ago. (it's against tradition, it's unnatural, it's against the will of god, it's against the will of the people, etc etc)

    it doesn't

it only bothers a particular type of Christian. One who is a bigot but yet also happens to claim Christianity.
But in reality thier defensiveness about being a biogt has nothgin to do with Christianity, even if they or others try to make it. THeres nothing in Christianity that forces a person to be against equal rights. Its sad that some Christians try to sell that lie.
