Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

Dark public relations are public relations too, right?

Do you demand qualitative service when you’re at the food services? If you’re an exacting person you may annoy waiter, but he says that’s OK. Then he spits in your cup while refilling your favorite drink. That’s why I prefer to eat and drink at home.

They do it all the time. They are mean! :twocents:

Maybe your wife has been doing it for years and you just got used to the taste?

You didn't know that grocery store employees pee on the produce?

Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

Most people who get spit (or other bodily fluids) in their food or drink generally deserve it.

Possibly, though we should keep unwitting exchanges of bodily fluids to a minimum. The couple in the article are going to sue Chili's for "psychological damage", which I think is one toke over the line. But you do have to worry about communicable diseases when strangers spit into your food.

Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

Well, yes, there's that.

Was your "one toke" a Brewer and Shipley reference? Just curious.

No they don't. Be a man and face them. Don't spit in food. I would kill a bastard that did that to me or my family.

At least the guy looks sorry.

Most people know you can't be a jerk to waitstaff for that very reason. And since the article makes it seem as though these people were regulars? I'm guessing they are lousy tippers as well.

No they don't.

Maybe they deserve it, maybe not (I know someone who did it just because he thought it was funny). It's still a dick move, regardless.

Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

I almost never complain when I eat out, if I dont like the food or service I just never come back.

That's me. I will almost never complain directly, either to the server or management. I will simply never go back if it's bad enough... though I do take into consideration if it's a good place and this bad thing was an aberration.

If I feel really put out I will write an e-mail or letter after I get home.

Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

Yeah. When it comes to bad customer service I don't have a problem speaking up, though I do it respectfully. The one exception to that is when it comes to ordering food. I don't want to offend someone who is going to have any time alone with my food. I'm just being practical.

You can cure that by not being a dick to them.

Define being a dick. Sending food back that is not to my liking?
Sending cold food back.
Not tipping good service.
They are in a service industry. They service should be exemplary every time. Not when they feel like it or when its convenient.

Re: Waiter’s spit in your soda

While it has been more than 30 years since I waited tables,
A person would have to be VERY rude, for most wait staff to do something
like that. People who have worked as waiters or waitresses for very long
develop a thick skin, and know where their tips come from.
Some customers like to complain, just go with it, give them good service anyway.
they may still tip well.

Being like my Mother in law who is never happy and is seen coming with distain.

I use to be a bartender in a restuarant where I learned the minds of servers and cooks. They like.being appreciated.

Of course if you don't like your food or drink you can send it back. They want you to be happy.

Send back and let them spit in it. That's what happens. I just don't tip for bad service or product.
I tip very well for good service and good food and drinks. Works both ways.

Yep. It's in their best interest all the way around to see you satisfied.

I think the majority of the world's problems could be solved by not being a dick. In fact, I think that was the take away message from Jesus, don't be a dick.
