‘Tone-deaf’ Clinton campaign throws kids off playground

Hillary Clinton’s campaign didn’t pick the best time to stage a major campaign rally at Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island later this month. According to the park’s website, a specially planned event for tots called Imagination Playground — which features unique blue building blocks — has been canceled to accommodate the Democratic front-runner for president.

...“We are not just a memorial and a park. We’re a thriving community of 14,000 people. It’s just tone-deaf to ignore that,” he added.

I see Hillary isn't exactly shattering her reputation as being cold and calculating.

Seriously, what is this woman thinking? I look forward to damage control.

It might be entertaining to bring all the kids (and maybe a few extra) to the campaign event. You could load them all up on Sno Cones and give them assorted noisemakers before the speech.

Hmmm.....

Maybe you could tell them that Hillary is going to give out free ice cream after the speech too if everyone cheers loud enough.

She'll just get criticized for feeding them "junk" food then.

Why won't Hillary think of the children. ;)

Because they can't vote?

Why are pretty much all of the major Republican candidates tone deaf in regard to, and in no particular order, homosexuals, minorities, women, marijuana smokers, people with an education, the poor, and everyone who isn't a charismatic/fundamentalist Christian?

Clinton clearly lost the preschool vote here, but since the Republicans have alienated most everyone else in America I'm going to stick with my prediction that Hillary walks in to the Oval Office essentially unopposed.

Not what I want to see happen, mind you, but since most lunatic fringe primary-voting Republicans insist that their candidates veer ever further to the right in order to secure a nomination there's no chance in hell that they'll run a candidate with half a chance of winning a general election.

But keep telling yourselves that what America REALLY wants in a far right candidate...

I think Hillary should make "imagination playground" her campaign slogan.

Dont worry your concern for children "channeling Louis Kahn by building whatever they imagine with oversized, architectural blocks on the Lawn" will happen.

You don't know what the word "faux" means, do you?

Not trying to intentionally be an outright asshole, but this "faux outrage" nonsense that people throw around just SMACKS of ignorance that could only be on a caliber synonymous with lingual ignorance, IMO of course.

Faux outrage means essentially, "fake outrage". Something that one would not be normally outraged about if it was not about a certain someone...

Unopposed? Thats doubtful, even just historically a 3rd consecutive term by any party is highly unlikely, and after all this hope and change people are fed up and I think that will matter. Beyond that Hillary is clearly a highly flawed candidate even by the dems own standards.

Its getting to the point where perhaps all the GOP needs to win is to not be Hillary.

Hey if Hillary wants to throw kids off the playground thats her deal, not mine-I noticed she didn't reschedule when she found out.

I think play has some very important functions in childhood development, apparently Hillary does not.

Hillary bumping people off a playground to stump for votes is rather ironic isn't it?

A harbinger of her administration...

Now that this news is out, a deft & savvy campaign would capitalize on it in some form:

Maybe have an 'outraged at the administrative mistake' candidate take personal charge of the event in such a way that the kids have an even better day alongside hers, and find a way to add some spin via an activity to perhaps additionally provide the kids with knowledge of America & the political process. Or better yet, 'skip her day' and go there to 'personally fix the kid's day', all the while with her cameras in tow.

Provide plenty of photo-ops of Secy Clinton with the kids personally making sure their event is better than ever, and provide plenty of soundbites of her working hands-on with the parents.

"Running the government is a tough job & there's many problems & issues that occur everyday. But when problems come-up, this is how I operate: I role-up my sleeves, get involved, and make it right - and if you give me the privilege of your vote, this is how I work for you as your President!"

A statement like this said with Ms. Clinton surrounded by playing & happy kids, with one on her arm and approving parents in abundance, would be a powerful optic.

Follow with an interview of one of the girl kids saying saying, "She's the best; I think she should be President because she fixed everything, and when I grow-up I want to be President like her and fix things!"

And close with a parent happily exclaiming, "It's good to see a person like her talking to us and making sure she understands and is taking care of the concerns of regular people like us".

She could mine gold here ...

And I'm sure some students at Liberty University didnt want to attend that speech but were subject to fines if they didnt attend  One could play this game all the time. But then again, we know why this is an "issue" for you. Your personal shedevil is involved.

:lamo :doh

Look at the posts in this thread, there are lots of non-conservatives who can plainly see that this is rude and inappropriate.

Its not false outrage, its a legitimate observation. Dismissing it as false is intellectually lazy.

Now, Ive already said its not the end of the world, but you should see its also very uncool, and politically unwise.

The media is just getting started, if you don't think this is fair game the next year and a half is going to frustrate you.

Well....they already know she doesn't have a record to run on. So they will have to cover the fashionables.

I suspect you are right.

She seems to be playing a dodge-everyone game at this point, and it may very well back-fire.

She may go down in history as the pre-eminent poly-sci case study as to how to lose primaries as the most presumed inevitable winner - that loses every primary she's in!

Is anyone really running on their "record" right now? I mean I know a very select few from the Republican side are running on a very very limited portion of their "record"..

Unless the rules of politics have been rewritten and she's the only one who knows. :doh

Imagine in the late night comedians got a hold of this.

Probably the fault of the event scheduler of the Four Freedoms Park more so than Hilary. They probably took it upon themselves to bump the kids to get Hilary to show up in their community. I seriously doubt she even knew. Can't even say if it's a bad thing as I suspect a lot of the community (parents of tots excepted) would rather listen to a presidential candidate than what was originally planned. I'm also sure if Hilary knew she was bumping kids that she's politically astute enough to not have booked there.

That's much too logical and reasonable. Please knock that stuff off, and return to our regularly scheduled partisan bash-fest!

Just as I have already predicted. Your Obama obsession is already giving way to your Hillary obsession. Comedy gold.

Even a limited portion of their record would mean they are running on their record. Glad you answered your own question. Why don't you ask Bloomberg.....yesterday, they made it clear why Hillary has no record to run on.

There is a thread up on it. Just sayin.

Interesting claim. Do you have any evidence for it? People who go to Liberty are pretty self-selecting for a high likelihood of attending that kind of event.

She is--that's why she's running for President.
To protect the children from the GOPs in the House ad Senate .

Cmon Nimby. Hillary protect children. Now that is some funny ****. :lamo

That broad wouldn't even know how to make a kid a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Let alone protect anyone.

Oh wait you mean like how she protected our people in Libya and Benghazi. That's not protection.....that's called not having a clue.

Yea. I thought this was pretty well known...
