U.S. Scrutinizes Conduct of Movie Theaters - WSJ

Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.,the nation’s two largest movie theater chains, have received formal inquiries from the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, signaling growing government scrutiny of a tactic large theater operators commonly use to keep movies out of competing locations.
AMC, which has faced the most backlash in the exhibition industry over the practices, told investors the Justice Department wants information “in connection with an investigation,” according to an AMC notice filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, into “potentially anticompetitive conduct” at the company.
Regal made a similar disclosure on Monday.

First FIFA now movie theaters? does she have no real targets to go after? You have a cronie capitalist (which is not capitalist), ruling class of bankers, and government approved and helped companies she could go after, but she's choosing FIFA and the movies?

This is old news, more or less a repeat from 2005. AMC and I think Cinemark (was Century Theaters,) was a target of both the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and the California Attorney General's Office for the exact same "clearance" charge. Trying to negotiate with movie distributors exclusive rights to key movies. Not much was found then, and California came up with their own laws to curb the practice that the Federal level did not impose. Odds are we will now see them.

As for the OP assertion on who the Justice Department does and does not go after, you guys really think that they call their own shots? (Think about that a moment.)
