My condolences to the Bidens. Cancer doesn't have a political allegiance.

Way, way, way too young. RIP.

This is horrendously sad. It's astonishing what a sad life Joe Biden has had.

Rest in peace, Beau Biden.

"Biden's unit was activated to deploy to Iraq on October 3, 2008, and sent to Fort Bliss, Texas, for pre-deployment training,[11] the day after his father participated in the 2008 presidential campaign's only vice presidential debate. His father was on the record as saying, "I don't want him going. But I tell you what, I don't want my grandson or my granddaughters going back in 15 years, and so how we leave makes a big difference."[12]

Biden traveled to Washington, D.C., from Iraq in January 2009 for the presidential inauguration and his father's swearing-in as Vice President,[13] then returned to Iraq.[14] Biden received a visit at Camp Victory from his father on July 4, 2009.[15] Biden returned from Iraq in September 2009, his yearlong stint on active duty complete.[16] Biden had announced that during his deployment he would continue to actively serve as Delaware's Attorney General by working in conjunction with his office's senior staff in Delaware,[17] although a member of his unit related Biden saying he had turned over most of his attorney general work to his deputy so as to focus on his duties in Iraq.[18]"

Cancer sucks!
Condolences to the Bidens.

Joe has had his share of family misfortune.
I wish him and his family well during this obviously painful time.

Very sad news. Hopefully a life well-lived will be a comfort and inspiration to his family.

Besides the tragedy of the (relatively) young man's death itself, Mr. Biden has suffered a great deal of heartwrenching personal loss over the years, only now to lose another child - a parent's worse nightmare.

We just aren't adequately programmed to accept our children's death before ours ...

*shudders*

Very sad news. My condolences to the Biden family.

I'd also like to offer my condolences and wishes that his extended family finds peace and comfort in the coming days and months.

We often joke about the Vice President - he's a good natured guy and takes it well - but I also find the Biden family to be genuine, decent people and the Vice President has had more than his share of personal family tragedy for one man.

I would also like to offer my condolences and best wishes to the Biden family in their time of sorrow. May they find comfort in their memories of him - a fine son, husband, and father.

R.I.P. Beau. You will be missed by all who knew you.

My thought is that the best way we can show respect to young Mr. Biden and offer support to his family is to step up our own game and do whatever little we can to compensate for his departure from this life by finding ways to make this a better world for all.

No one is irreplaceable, and no one who has the opportunity to bring us closer to a bright future is free from that responsibility.

I figure Beau wants each of us to pick up the slack. The way to get that done is to keep our differences in perspective and work together. I feel that is reflected in this thread, and I thank the community for it.

That is one of the very few statements VP Joe Biden has ever made that I agree with. It's like he actually understood at that point why we invaded Iraq in 2003. If we had left Saddam in power, the children and grandchildren of the troops who fought in Iraq would have to go back and finish it. My condolences to the Biden family.
