Re: Nebraska Abolishes Death Penalty
You want to execute pharmacists selling Oxy, and liquor store owners!!! That seems a bit harsh.
And DNA testing isn't actually a test that shows guilt or innocence. It's useful in many cases, but using DNA cannot remotely guarantee a correct verdict. And the biggest problem, IMO, with the death penalty is it's arbitrarily applied, and a death penalty depends heavily on who the defendant is, who the victim was (e.g. was the victim a nice looking middle class white female, or a street person, or a young black man with a criminal record), how much money he or she has, the quality of his legal team, the judge, the particular members of the jury, and more.
Yes, and these were all done before DNA was universally used. Today's law enforcement now uses DNA every time it's available. Once these 300 cases out of thousands of heinous criminal cases, are disposed of, there will no longer be any doubt as to the guilt of these people!
Change the law, install the DP at every state and not just for murder.......I advocate it be used for serial rapists and drug dealers as well!
Housing people for life is a poor second choice!
