Obama urges Senate to work to preserve NSA access to phone data

They need to violate our privacy to keep us safe. Can somebody remind me what the odds of being killed by a terrorist are?

Obama urges Senate to work to preserve NSA access to phone data - LA Times

President Obama urged the Senate on Tuesday to work during its recess to renew the government’s authority to track terrorists through phone data before it expires at midnight Sunday. Obama urged the chamber’s Republican leaders to pass a House-approved measure that would let the National Security Agency retain access to the phone records, but with changes that end the more controversial practice of bulk data collection by the government. “This needs to get done,” Obama told reporters in the Oval Office. “I strongly urge the Senate to work through this recess and make sure that they identify a way to get this done,” he added, calling it “necessary to keep the American people safe and secure.”

Probably the same as getting shot in a mass school shooting, winning the lottery, having sex with hot twins and a hand job from Mila Kunis all on the same day?
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Far less than a bee sting. And now Obama's going off the reservation on this too. There's never ending proof that the difference between the parties does not exist.

Things like this, is why Mr. Obama draws heat from both The Right & The Left!

The GOP Senate and the GOP House can't agree with each other on this bipartisan passed House bill--another impotent GOP moment.
How many issues do we need to understand that Obama is NOT the problem?
I'm ready to list them--with facts.
McConnell will be forced to accept this House bill next Sunday night .

It's an exceptionally low probability, but it's a high fear term. So government uses it to excuse gross usurption of power and undue force exercised against The People.

Here's an article from Politico with direct quotes and discussion of the Senate's archaic rules.
Especially interesting for me was the agreement in the comments between what we normally describes as both "sides".
