I made a late edit to my last post, which I'll repeat:

I would much sooner recommend taking every dollar you'd advise throwing at higher education and instead devote it to social, therapeutic and educational programming that will take young children out of the traumatic and unpredictable care of their irresponsible parents and into positive learning environments.

Those tall gray bars represent people who can't even make it through high school (where there's no pay wall). Higher ed isn't the real problem. It's earlier. Much earlier.

i don't completely disagree. completion of high school should be a minimum requirement. letting kids drop out has no societal benefit.

Nearly all student loans are eventually repaid. Plus, you have changed the topic slighly.

First you were arguing that young people aren't mature enough to realize that they are harming themselves with debt, now you are arguing that they are not credit worthy. That's two totally different arguments.

So which is the real issue, that college isn't worth debt, or that student loans won't be paid back? Personally, I don't see either as an issue, because reality proves that college is generally worth the price over a lifetime of earnings, and that most every student loan is eventually repaid and the government makes a profit off of the student loan program.

no fallacy there. you want everyone else to pay your way instead of working and paying yourself.
as I said you can move to plenty of other countries that are setup like that.

I prefer to have people work for what they have. it makes a better society in general

the only paywall is the one you made up. there is no pay wall.
there is a lack of motivation wall that people can't take 5 minutes and fill out the FASFA documents.

It has a lot of relevancy to what constitutes "poor," as you put it. If you'd like me to put it another way, 40% of my state can barely afford to get by, which is a lot higher than the HS dropout rate

as stated there are plenty of affordable colleges that students can attend.

there are also scholarships, loans, and grants that can be gotten in order to attend college as well.

so your mythological pay wall is something you have simply made up to continue the appeal to emotion argument.
