Labor that isn't worth much just isn't worth much. Not all jobs are "careers" or can be.
Productivity rates are higher now than ever, so yes it is worth all that much. There will probably always been a need for some type of basic labor there is no reason not to pay at least something that people can live on and don't need welfare to compensate.

There will be need for some basic level, but uneducated labor is uneducated labor. And we should be pursuing automation more and more so that these trivial tasks can be handled more by machine, free man to expand research and energy into other fields.

Nicci;1064698730]It doesn't matter why someone works for minimum wage. The fact remains that when it isn't a wage people are able to live on, the government picks up the slack with welfare. Raising the wage to match inflation at the very least, would in benefit everyone.
Who are you to determine what someone else's living expenses are and what they need for income?

Yes, cities and states do not need the federal government to raise their wage, yet has been shown sometimes the government does need to step in when people are being taken advantage of. That is its obligation of being by the people and for the people. Failure to do so, just shows how broken businesses are that they can control the government. If that doesn't seem wrong to you, I really can't take your opinion on this topic seriously.
Wrong, your opinion noted. No one forced you to take a minimum wage job and work that job for years. You develop skills and marketability. Quite looking to the federal govt. to save you from your own personal choice errors and inability to get a better paying job on your own.

That's the root of the problem: wages don't rise with inflation.

Unlike you, I actually have experience in the financial black hole market. You really need to have actual experience before you speak about what is or is no livable.

Let me know when you'd like a lesson on this, I'd be happy to show you somewhere local you can experience it, even in or around Houston.

My experience consists of 35 years in the private sector working will hourly employees. I had over 1200 of them and know that anyone working for minimum wage for over a year is overpaid at minimum wage. They all have opportunities to move up and most do or they go somewhere else.

Yes, and the can "fire their insurance company," and other myths.

Well it's a contributor I think. There are other larger problems that I would say have bigger effects, such as the Corporate Capitalist system of economics we currently have.

Being in management does not mean you have experience, sorry. Your experience is limited to sort of knowing your employees nothing more. You haven't lived at that level for apparently such a long time you don't remember what it was like or is like today.

Like far too many you think you know what everyone else wants and needs. I worked for minimum wage while living at home with my parents like millions of those making minimum wage now. There are very few who make minimum wage supporting a family. I know exactly what it is like today with people like you who have that entitlement mentality and it is always someone else's fault for poor choices you make. Anyone who makes minimum wage longer than a year is overpaid as most companies give 90 day reviews and most corporations pay well above minimum wage even to start
