Boston bomber Tsarnaev sentenced to death for 2013 attack

I do, and considering. Its not a bad life for a prisoner.

really

so living in solitary where you get one hour a day of "recreation" in an area with no other prisoners sounds like a good life to you?

LOL

Not in those Super Max prisons you have.

If he got "life". He would be in seg for a few years, then if a "model prisoner" moved to a state pen to make room in the Max. Remember, he is only what? 21. Life would mean about 50 to 60 years.
Many evaluations and re evaluations to the point where he would end up in a state general population situation.
"rotting" in prison means you are chained to a wall twenty four seven, fed gruel and beaten by guards.
That is out of some movie of the 50s.

I said, "considering". You miss the point of his still being a live continues to make him a martyr. And at his young age he will not be in seg for very long.

you are assuming facts not in evidence. LWOP in SuperMax is far worse than death. Why do you think McVeigh wanted to die

So according to you all prisoners in that facility want to be executed? Try not to make generalizations from one specific case.

try not to change the subject.

I am not changing the subject. Just pointing out that you don't have a real argument.

I have a real argument-that putting someone in 24/7 solitary confinement for 50+ years is a tougher punishment than death

No, you quite literally do not. He is still a human being in every way. Dehumanizing him only helps people rationalize their support for the death penalty. It's much easier to pretend you're endorsing the death of someone who's inhuman than it is to acknowledge that you're killing someone who is as much of a human being as you are.

Humans do not normally cause mass murder - while genetically you are correct, socially this guy is a rabid animal as far as I'm concerned. Rabid animals are not to be humanized and to do so is to ignore the actions and consequences of those actions of the rabid animal and to disrespect those who died and slap in the face those who live with permanent disability and pain for decades to come. For what - to claim some fictional moral high ground? Laughable.

Well, that won't happen though because it would be the cause celeb for the bleeding heart morons to incur millions of dollars of appeals on his behalf saying it's cruel and unusual punishment. Think of this this way even though he's confined, our justice system today allows all sorts of entertainment, benefits, etc. He's still able to write to his mother, his radical buddies, family, friends, over time would still be able to read, learn and create benefits for himself, still watch programs or listen to radio, read newspapers, and otherwise have limited access to the outside world and even interact with it. If he wanted to get married to some nutjob - he would be allowed to do it even in solitary. So no... way to many benefits for this offal. If he's dead, none of that can occur and I'd much prefer that option.

You feel that housing, feeding and providing free health care as well as free legal aid for endless legal procedures for decades is a worse punishment than executing someone?

The mother of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev - Zubeidat Tsarnaeva - posted some messages on VKontakte (the Russian Facebook) after her sons conviction. One of the messages (in Russian):

Trans - Allah is the greatest. His decisions are the greatest. Inshaallah to him we belong and to him we will return. They think that they are killing us and they celebrate this, but we are the ones who will rejoice when Allah grants us the chance to behold them in the flames of an eternal and terrifying fire, an otherworldly flame, inshaallah.

I love my sons. With this love I will stand in front of Allah. Thank you dear and may Allah be happy with you.

No assuming anything. They will not keep him in seg for 40 50 or maybe even 60 years. It not like he was John Gotti who was I believe in his 50s.

you apparently know little about the CJS. the legal costs to execute someone are far higher than LWOP

I would like to say that I trust that both parents are permanently barred from travelling to the US again. But alas, my "trust" is not so great.

That is simply not true because in the calculations that are made not all the costs of keeping somebody in prison for 50+ years are taken into account.

so you now are arguing against LWOP in solitary based on cost not severity? figure out what argument you want to make

No, the cost is immaterial to me. What should matter is that the punishment should fit the crime and the threat somebody poses to society. I am not a death penalty "enthusiast" but I do believe that in certain specific cases the death penalty is the appropriate and best punishment.

You were the one bringing up cost as an argument and I responded to that.

so if it really fit the crime should the bomber be bombed and maimed?

No, that is riduculous and you know it. the fact that you resort to this sort of thing shows you have no real arguments.

Que the anti death penalty crowd now.
I am one of them.. No matter how much I hate and cannot understand this SOB, I think he should live .. Define "live" ! One idea ... ... on an island with ZERO human contact, and he must take care of himself 100% , including .. digging his one grave .. .. if he starves .. so be it ... NOT one penny for his care .. or anything !
But, I'll admit, this is NOT right ..
Amy man , who care not one iota for his fellow man , should be treated better than that ..
Check the word of Jesus ..

So you don't want him executed but you want him to starve to death? This is the part I don't understand about people who don't want a scumbag executed but would be perfectly happy if another prisoner offed him.

I am not for the death penalty because it is too costly and too time consuming. But I am for the death of this maggot. He does not deserve to live one second longer.

Jesus don't care. If Jesus really cared he could have intervened. He could have filled that boys mind and heart with love and understanding, not hate and blood lust.
