Wow...you have to go back 50 years to find one....and even then, Bundy didn't escape from a maximum security prison, he escaped from a po-dunk county jail in Colorado. Nice try, but still an epic fail.

I'd like for him to live a very long and healthy life in solitary confinement 23 out of 24 hours a day and surrounded by the photographs of those he killed and maimed. And my hope would be for his eventual sincere remorse.

Beyond that, I'd like to think that we as a society can do better than killing people who kill people.

The Death Penalty is too costly and time consuming. This wasn't some robbery that went bad this was pure evil of successfully trying to cause death and pain to as many people possible..

We kill thousands of cows, pigs and chicken everyday who never did anything to anyone so that we can barbecue them with a beer and friends and people are hesitant at the thought of this piece rotten scum being executed?

So the best choice would be life in prison and am torn between solitary or dumped in the gen population.

I agree. I prefer to see him sincerely remorseful and living with what he did. That is more punishment than a quick death to confused, radicalized, and unremorseful individual.

In many ways, this conversation reminds me of the Manson Family murders. I have seen many of the Manson women in interviews, and they are now horrified by what they did. But once, they were unremorseful, and looked totally insane with their shaved heads and singing songs after being sentenced to death. They were brainwashed, and instead of dying brainwashed, the state of CA banned the death penalty and they lived to regret. It is unbelievable considering how screwed up they were, but after getting away from Manson they were deprogrammed. I think we were also able to learn more about cult phenomena and brainwashing as a result of their lives being spared. I think he could be more valuable being kept alive in some ways as well.

The Govt is being sued over the treatment of prisoners in a Supermax.

Not only on public perception and reputation, but cops simply won't want to police these neighborhoods anymore.
The shooter was later found to be white.

    really

so living in solitary where you get one hour a day of "recreation" in an area with no other prisoners sounds like a good life to you?

    LOL

If he got "life". He would be in seg for a few years, then if a "model prisoner" moved to a state pen to make room in the Max. Remember, he is only what? 21. Life would mean about 50 to 60 years.
Many evaluations and re evaluations to the point where he would end up in a state general population situation.
"rotting" in prison means you are chained to a wall twenty four seven, fed gruel and beaten by guards.
That is out of some movie of the 50s.

I said, "considering". You miss the point of his still being a live continues to make him a martyr. And at his young age he will not be in seg for very long.
