R.I.P. King of Blues BB King dies

The 'King of the Blues' guitarist and singer, BB King, has died aged 89, his lawyer says.

King, known for his hits Lucille, Sweet Black Angel and Rock Me Baby, died in his sleep in Las Vegas.
Born in Mississippi, King began performing in the 1940s. He went on to influence a generation of musicians, working with Eric Clapton and U2. Link.
Saw BB King in 1988 as a student in Newcastle, brilliant performance. Sad day today but thank you for the music, thank you for the musicians you inspired.

I love this cut. Tracy Chapman is fantastic in her own right, but if you watch, talented as she is, she is in awe of Mr. B.B. King.

We are losing all the greats of the Blues. B.B.'s Legacy - hopefully - will live on.

I love the blues. Can't remember when I didn't. A friend of mine, bluesman Big Pete Pearson, and I were talking once about the blues in the US and the blues in Europe. Big Pete plays a lot in Europe. A lot.

I once ran into him in Paris, which was weird. He'd been playing in Europe for a month! I asked him why, except for the South and places like Chicago, the blues is barely mainstream in America, yet in Europe he plays to packed houses. He said, "Americans just don't get it anymore like they do in Europe."

One more, I have to, from BB King. How do you pick a favorite from a legend?

    OMG - so sad.

    Shocker.

Having said that - this great man's legacy will live forever.

Saw him in concert once about 10 years ago - he was better than ever.

    RIP.

I can't say it better than others before me. Wishing his family peace and comfort and wonderful memories of a very special man.

I saw him a few years ago. He was old and tired but still played like magic. RIP, Mr. King.
