R.I.P. King of Blues BB King dies

A giant of American music. Not sure what it has to do with politics, however.

Some times life requires a brief intermission from it.

He was awesome. Took my grandmother to see him at a casino in Shreveport ten years ago. She had put together a 3'x4' poster, sharply decorated with garland fringe confetti, and photos, past ticket stubs, commemorative articles etc., and had it perched on an easel in her Hotel room. A couple of room service staff had seen it and later on, upon delivering room service to his (King's) suite, they told him about it. They returned to my grandmothers room and told her that King wanted to see it! Of course she said, by all means. When they returned with it, it had his autograph across it, a ring, a watch and a guitar pick attached to it as well. He hated time, often had a watch or large clock near him on stage and would say, "they told me I need to stop at this time, but I feel like still playing, what do you all think"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a cool story.

Another one of the great blues men called home. Sad for us as we'll miss his greatness and what he had to teach us through his music and playing.

RIP B.B. - your music will continue to inspire!

Rest in Peace, BB King.

Then step out of this thread and find you a political one. There are plenty of them around here.

I know!! Right?!?

There has to be one in every crowd I suppose. Oh well. :coffeepap

I never had the chance to visit with Mr. King. As closely as he worked with Aaron and Mac, I thought that eventually we would cross paths. It never really dawned on me that he would not live forever. Too late now. :(

Rest in peace Blues Boy.

Yeah you'll always have a Hall Monitor complaining because you are out in the hall without a pass.

FACT: B.B. King could not sing and play the guitar at the same time. Want to challenge me on that? Show one video.

Seeing BB was on my bucket list. I had one chance during PA school but was far too broke to go see him. He was in on TV growing up too.

He once said he named his guitar after the woman whom two men were fighting over during a party in a barn years ago-the barn nearly burned down and he was able to grab his guitar and escape before it did.

He's known for playing Gibsons, but in his earliest days (early 50's) he played the Fender telecaster.

Fact: I cannot play bass and sing at the same time either. I can play acoustic and sing all day. Put a bass in my hands and I'm stupefied. And bass guitar is my primary instrument!

Apparently, you're the only one that cares.

Thats odd indeed.

One would think, hey? But I have come to learn, having participated in many bass guitar player forums, it's not that odd at all. Many bass players have the same trouble.

It's a timing thing, I think. At least, in my case, I think it is. But perhaps, underneath it all, it's a blessing. I sing horribly. :3oops:

BB King had one voice and Lucille had another voice. You simply don't have one voice over the other. Having him sing over his guitar playing wouldn't have the same effect.

I bow to the King of the Blues.

"How blue can you get ... "?

"Heaven done called another blues-stringer back home."

I never could play and sing either--one or the other wasn't going to be done well.
