The North for all their occasional bravado isnt stupid enough to actually act. For than matter...neither is Iran. Iran is talking big **** because they know they can. Obama isnt going to war with them and they know it. Iran is that stupid street punk grabbing their balls and talking **** from half a block away with a couple of their boys being really impressed all the while knowing that they guy they are talking **** to a-doesnt really care-b-isnt really going to respond and c-if he did respond the fight would be over before it started. To Obamas credit, he has just been ignoring the threats and he should. ANY type of response would just result in some sort of payoff for the impotent rusty saber rattling.
VM, trust me on this one. The South has been held in check by the USA. They are tired of the **** from the North and while they don't want war, aren't afraid of taking care of business.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Saying Iran or N.Korea are not a direct threat to America is akin to saying that Germany prior to WW2 was not a direct threat to the US. If you can see the ignorance in the 2nd statement, you should realize the ignorance in the 1st.
    I just see ignorance.

Theres a difference between not being afraid and not havign a reason.

North Korea is starving to death. Literally. War with them is ridiculous. There is one 'enemy' in North Korea and he is as much an enemy of the citizens of North Korea as he is the citizens of South Korea.

Based on what I experienced when I was there, there seems to be several different camps. There are the elders who were alive during the Korean War who despise N.Korea and if given the chance, would pick up a gun and go fight them right now. Then there is the younger generation which seems to be split in many ways. There are younger Koreans who want to unify the country and believe that ending the war is part of that process. Then there is a smaller group who are educated about the situation and know that unification with the North is not possible unless it is under Kim Jong Un. The last opinion being the correct one of course. Both the North and South want unification, but under their own respective governments and doctorines. However, I think there are probably more N.Koreans that would be happy to unify under the South's system. You don't see many South Korean's running across the boarder risking death to get to the North.
    - There was never a good war, or a bad peace.
    - Idealistically, everything should work as you planed it to. Realistically, it depends on how idealistic you are as to the measure of success.
    - Better to be a pessimist before, and an optimist afterwords.
