Nuke control is a bit like Gun Control in that Iran will acquire Nuclear Weapons somewhere if they real want them or feel enough of a threat to get them.

so do we reject a possible ally that can be tremendously beneficial to US interests* & drive them to do business elsewhere or normalize relations with a country in the Region that could be a mutually beneficial ally where we have none.

Obama has foolishly rejected the advice of people a lot smarter and more knowledgeable than he that said this was a very bad idea. Iran is playing him for the idiot that he is. They have said that they will not allow inspections and will continue to develop nukes.

1. Because I've been there & treated warmly with generous hospitality

2. Because the US Military has already been quietly co-operating with Iran in fighting Pirates, assisting each other in Search & Rescue Operations in the Gulf, co-operating with the US in Afghanistan & is currently fighting ISIS, al Quaeda, al Nusra which are supported by Israel & traditionally hostile to the US

3. The "Death to America" etc rhetoric has either been deliberately mistranslated, is meaningless hyperbole or intended to mean opposition to US Mid East policy enabling Israel to massacre thousands in Gaza, S. Lebanon etc. Iran's president explains:
