Have you signed up for PPACA? I did, and it's working better then what is had.

That whole color-coded "terror threat" went hand in hand with surveillance. Now the repubs will be quick to defend this spying on americans as vital to security, but it's just the usual fear mongering.

As far as the court's decision that congress didn't intend for this program, well i suppose not since congress didn't even read the damn bill before voting for it

They never read what they vote on. Most of these bills are filled with crap that isn't even associated with the bill, if we required Senators and Representatives to actually have any clue what they were voting for, the country wouldn't be in the mess that it is.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

The court made the right decision. Its hard to say whether the Supremes will agree. The supporters of the Patriot Act may be right that ending the practice of phone data collection may increase the risk of more terrorism. If you value freedom you have to accept some risk.

yeah but i swear that after 9/11 they could just slap the label "patriot act" on literally anything and it would pass without congress reading it. Could've been a "patriot act" mandating that everyone eats a serving of cow dung each day and it'd pass

It continues under obama because no politician wants to be blamed if a terror attack took place *after* the spying program was reigned in. It's always about covering their asses

Well we kind of know that it's only deterred a single and very indirect act of terrorism. In exchange for billions of private phone calls and emails being spied on by NSA perverts, a "do not fly" list of 50k, and a terrorist watch list of *1 million*, we have prevented....some loser in california donating $12,000 to al qaeda.

I would bet that everything i listed is illegal as well, since there's no trial process or appeals or court order. It's certainly not becoming of a country that claims to value liberty

This is hot off the presses.... USAToday and Politico is corroborating the story. Ultimately the vast collection of big data which is being collected for possible use in the future, is not legal according to the 2nd Circuit appeals court. IMO it never was and is lazy and unconstitutional. Let's see if this gets escalated further and finally ends up on the SCOTUS desk.
Meantime Congress and 3 letter agencies want to try Snowden and put him under the jail while no one responsible for the decisions in the OP will face a moment of court time.

Yes, and why don't we do that? Because we keep sending the smart ass or the dumb elephant to office.
