    See, I'm envisioning the "lifer". He's never going to get out, and he knows it.

    And for many of these people, even if they do get out, they have the type of mindset that doesn't care about a prison debt. Being disqualified from getting a mortgage is hardly on their radar.

    For those that get out, I'm not talking about getting a mortgage. They will receive no social security and no pay or money whatsoever until they have paid their debt.

    For people who are in prison for life, the prospect of never being able to have any sigarettes, never being able to watch TV, never being able to participate in any sport, etc; may be a sobering prospect.
