Man found dead in tractor trailer near burned CVS

No - it was a young white girl, in this particular case. However, is the concern in Baltimore police brutality or is it racism? Seems to me, if the complaint is that cops are lawless, cops are over militarized, cops are abusive, etc., it shouldn't matter the colour of the victim's skin. Or are you saying that only people of colour should be demonstrative and destructive? We, here in Toronto, have had many people of all flavours and sexes who've died interacting with police and we've had no rioting for any of them. In fact, in most cases, where protests have occurred, it has been mothers of black youth who have died at the hands of other black youth who rally their communities in an attempt to stop the violence. Many of them are mothers of children who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And in all of these protests, the police walk along with those trying to change their communities for the better - they ask police here to participate, and they do. Different culture, different attitudes, and different outcomes for the most part.
It's about police brutality against the impoverished, mostly non-white communities. You haven't figured that out yet, John? Seriously? Well since I know you can be pretty smart, I'm going to have to figure you're being intentionally obtuse and stupid. Bless your heart.

Not intentionally obtuse and stupid - but thanks for the blessing :) - right back attcha.

My point was there are others, other than blacks, in America who are subjected to what would be considered police brutality and sometimes die at the hands of officers and yet there are no riots, vandalism, looting, etc. I distinctly remember the young mentally ill white man who was killed by police in America trying to restrain him and his calls to his dad that they were trying to kill him - the video was disturbing. But I don't remember that situation leading to riots - I do remember significant protests, but not riots. So why is it that so frequently when a black person dies, rioting is the go to option of choice?

Not anymore they don't....Most, are equipped today with separate APU units that provide heat, and AC...Truck engines running all night is a thing of the past.

These APU's have to be running probably on diesel as well, so is it possible that the driver could have gotten carbon monoxide poisoning from the APU?

What the heck is a 'CVS'?

Or do you mean CV's (combat vehicle)?

The drug store that was looted - really??

Political Pandering is why. Supposed racism is a hang up for the left in the US. In many of the poor black communities, the cops put up with a lot of harassment and abuse for the residents instead of cooperation because the politicos have convinced them that the police are after them for being black instead of just doing their jobs of arresting criminals. Haven't you been paying attention, it is the cops and the right, supposedly supporting cops, that cause more black men to be in prison than college. Has nothing to do with the fact that they committed crimes.

Impoverished area are always the highest crime areas. Children in these areas are drug into gangs and other criminal activities because the residents don't help the cops clean up the streets. One generation of criminals keep the next generation tied down to crime this way and have a devastating affect on those seeking education and means of rising above it. Seems they would rather have their kids killed by gang violence and their schools vandalized to run down to ruins with any quality teachers scared away than see another black man who committed a crime go to jail.

I found it interesting that in one of our Toronto newspapers this morning they head pictures of the six officers who've been charged in this case and three of the officers are black and three are white, and yet the claims are that the police are racist and that blacks suffer because of their race.

Why are those things mutually exclusive? Do you think a systemic racial bias in America's criminal justice system somehow makes it impossible for black police officers to be violent? You don't think a black police officer can treat a black suspect differently?

I think it makes it hard to believe these three black police acted strictly on race.

I think what it shows is that even blacks, those blacks on the police force, know that people like Gray aren't innocent babies who are rounded up and murdered because they're black. But perhaps you believe black police sit around waiting for the opportunity to randomly murder a member of their own race.

Yea, that just drops with irony.

Kind of takes the teeth from the 'racist white cop' meme.

 Biggest straw man of the day. If this is how you want to "discuss" things, count me out.

I know, but like I said, why not speculate? It seems to be how we decide things today...Personally I think he died of a heart attack, but hell, I want justice!

I see what you were trying to do but this is pathetic comparison analogy. It doesn't sound like anyone was in contact with this trucker.

If there had been a truckstop hooker with him prior to his death that was caused by knife laceration then there would have been reasonable questioning to was in self-inflicted or did the hooker slice him.

I appreciate how disappointed you must be. Pimping race hate is hard work and then when it doesn't pan out quite the way you want it to, running away from the discussion is the best path to take.

You can prove your discussion is worthy by finding anyone saying that police are "rounding up and murdering people for being black." Using actual terminology like that.

You can't. Because that's not what people are arguing. And you know that.

Not really, maybe...Most APU's have separate exhaust systems...But I suppose it's possible if there were some leak of exhaust into the bunk.

I was surprised how roomy those sleepers are. They are as good as a home away from home, just like a camper trailer.

You're funny - you think I give a rat's ass if you think my discussion is worthy or not. That's rich.

Are you the content police now?

Just to humour you, and as an example, try reading anything posted about police by "reinoe" here on DP or just listen to the race baiters from Baltimore and elsewhere.

yeah, I like the Freightliner condo sleepers, nice and roomy....Mine is smaller than that, but I still have in my bunk, a table, TV, Coffee maker, and microwave. Along with a closet to hang a change of clothes...I tell ya, they've come a long way since stretching a board across the seats....hehe...

Just for the heck of it, I thought I would Google truck sleepers, and I really got a surprise. Some of those sleepers, even have a toilet and shower and twin beds. I know a few truckers, who have their own rig, who take their wives and kids along during summer months. One guy I know is on his 4th wife, and she goes along with him along with their 2 cats. Being a long haul driver can be hard on a marriage.

yeah, no doubt...My "Long haul" days are over...That is a tough life...My runs now are usually out one day, back the next...So not too hard....But, after 20 years of driving, and over 3 million miles under my belt, it's about time I had the easier stuff....

I assume the long haul guys probably make more money doing those runs, but it's rough on their health and their marriages. Great job for a single man, though.

So what do y'all make of this? Since the whole Freddie Grey thing is now being driven by wild speculation, does anyone think this is related? And if it is, what does that say about policing in the area? Sounds awfully safe when cops time is diverted to handle other things doesn't it....?

CON straw grasping, not your first such exercise. The police say they consider it suspicious but also say there is no obvious signs of foul play. Sounds like a distraction rather than a black retaliation murder, but let's not get in the way of pathetic CON games.

Try and find us an article or two on the yuppie enclaves being robbed while the police were 'distracted'.... :peace

Sounds like you got duped along with the rest of us, thinking all the cops involved were white. Comes out that three were black, so any retaliation by black rioters against whites was a race crime just because they hated anything white. Of course the news media will spin and make it look like their crimes were against the police and everyone knew that some cops involved were black. Funny, I just found out about it two days ago about the racial mix of the cops who allegedly injured Freddie Gray.

Why waste my time....? Look, I just thought it was interesting...But, your tone, as always paints you as the person you are...Carry on.
