The Saudis probably just rounded up a bunch of homeless people and called them terrorists.

When our new Republican president opens up drilling on federal lands and water we can drop the Saudis from our most needed list.
Yup, it was the Saudi financed madrassas in the Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan that radicalized Muslims in both countries and it soon gave rise to the Taliban and Al Qeda.

I'm no fan of the Saudi's, but what would be the point?

The KSA does not need US aid, is already able to procure and pay for advanced US arms, the US Navy already protects the Persian Gulf, and the US government is already assisting the Saudi coalition with Yemen.

I fail to see how stupidly concocting a bogus plot could add any luster to the profound US largess they already possess.

He was probably being a bit sarcastic, never the less, things have been better between the two.

What reason would they have not to lie about it?

It makes them look good to their people and the world.

And of course they need to keep America happy. Less then 10% of America's oil imports now comes from Saudi Arabia, so the U.S. does not need Saudi oil any longer. Plus, much of America will be plenty pissed off at the Saudi's keeping oil prices so low and thus severely damaging the budding U.S. oil fracking industry.
And the Saudi's need to keep America happy so that the latter will sell all that advanced military hardware to the former.

I assume at least a few of those caught had something to do with terrorism. But I also do not doubt for one second that many of those rounded up were simply political enemies of the SRF (Saudi Royal Family) that they wanted eliminated.
The Saudi government is INCREDIBLY vicious and controlling...assuming anything they say is true without proof is, IMO, naive in the extremis.

Why did the U.S. claim a terrorists attack to bomb the SEARS TOWER was broken up when in really it was a bunch of dudes getting high in Florida? Why was Osama bin Laden able to live and hide in a fortress in the middle of a city in Pakistan, despite the Pakistanis "doing their best" to find him? Because of propaganda. Some people love it the way flies love ****. The governments in the Middle East don't give two ****s about fighting terrorism in the M.E. but they have to make sure they're keeping up appearances to secure those U.S. dollars.

These are the same Saudi's that allowed most of the 9-11 hijackers to live and train in their country. The Saud's are asleep at the wheel when it comes to fighting terrorism and they have in fact been an exporter of radical beliefs and supporters of wahabbism. But every once in a while it's imperative that they at least look like they're doing something to fight terrorists.

KSA currently has its highest GDP, 2% inflation rate, 5% unemployment, a positive balance of trade, and a FOREX reserve that is 3x that of the United States.

It doesn't need to panhandle for US dollars.

Non-sequitur. Citizenship ≠ government supported terrorism.

Minus a Saudi tip, the printer-cartridge bombs mailed in Yemen and destined for Chicago probably would have exploded in midair.

You still haven't provided any rational reason why the Saudi's would concoct/report a plot that was neutered before it matured. The US State Department considered the intel solid enough to close its Saudi embassy and two consulates for a full week.

According to your silly metrics, any Saudi report should be immediately dismissed outright simply because of the source. Lol. I wonder if the Houthi in Yemen got that memo.
