Baltimore Police: Gangs Enter Partnership to ‘Take-Out’ Officers [W:99]

Yes, the actual realities behind what happened...nonsense.

The problems in Baltimore have zero to do with the police adopting helmets and a handful of surplus vehicles from the Feds.

In any way gripe all you want about militarized police, now the militarized military is roaming the streets.

Then what sparked the response? Did they run out of vanilla ice cream at Ben & Jerry's?

True enough, but as DF correctly argued, public scrutiny and investigation needs to drive this. I don't like democrats investigating themselves for possible wrong doing nor do I like the department investigating themselves.

If they are not rioting over the death of this kid and making accusations against the Baltimore Police. How do they get around the fact, of that dept being made up of a good majority of minorities?

A bunch of punks who riot at every chance they get. These are not legitimate protestors. I'm willing to bet every single person involved has a lengthy criminal record

Greetings, Polgara. :2wave:

Heard an interesting comment this morning. If you look at the larger time frame, Watts, for example, still hasn't recovered from the impact of it's riots. Much the same can be said for Detroit as well, because once the riots happened, many people moved out and pretty much said leave me out of it. This degraded the tax base, and didn't help the financial problems.

Kinda adds up and make sense, dominoes falling one by one and all that.

I read somewhere a while back that Detroit was once one of the richest cities in the world after WW2, due to automobile production. I guess it's human nature to believe that the good times will last forever, but they never do. You'd think we would have learned something along the way just from reading about Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall, and how power and corruption go hand in hand!

Oh I don't know. I watched some raw video coverage from the riot, and saw a large black guy power grab a large metal trash can full of garbage and smash it down on an innocent white woman. Maybe there is some truth to what these creatures are planning. I would hope the rest of the black community comes out and stops these maggots from creating more havoc in their communities.

Did you see the clip of the mother smacking around her son she caught playing street thug?

Irrelevant, you live in Chicago, you know more than many how minorities kill minorities. I'm not saying anyone needs to get around anything. Let's just have an independent investigation.

Good morning, bubba. :2wave:

No I didn't, but good for that mom!

They probably do. So they just decided to go out and riot randomly, huh? There was not other cause that gave rise to the situation that allowed this to spiral out of control? Just randomly the thugs of the city were like "Hey, let's riot!!!"

That's actually a lot worse than having a cause because it leaves our other dangerous cities at risk. If the thugs are randomly breaking out into riot, what's to stop this from happening in Chicago or LA? I mean, if we're being honest and there was no other cause that a bunch of punks who riot at every chance. Unless we're being dishonest and hiding what that "cause" was.

So random or was there a cause? If so, what was the cause?

The looting and robbing that seems to always accompany these things is always wrong, and never is cause to dismiss police abuse.

I wonder when Obama is going to come out and say that these looters could look like his son..... ;)

My wife showed it too me this morning before I left for the office. She narrated it. I'm sure she was pretty close to accurate. Awesome! Way to go Mom.

Where are all the Dads? :(

Oh, aren't you all smug and satisfied with the destruction.

No, I'm really not....My heart was breaking as I watched that utter **** last night....But, my question for you last night was simple...The police, although armored up, but undermanned, were ordered to stand back and not even attempt to interfere with what was going on....That IMHO, is what you get when you take the stance that you so often take against police resource, and how they should approach these types of anarchist actions by citizens that have NO regard for law.

Let us not forget what caused this powder keg to erupt. There are many many reason why so many of our cities are powder kegs, typically revolving around socio-economic pitfalls. But the rise of police aggression against the people and the number of casualties caused in the militarization of our police has been pilling onto the already hefty mountain.

That is sorry to say excuse making. You shouldn't make excuses for scum like what we saw last night.

Had the police not killed this kid in their custody, there would never have been riots...not now.

I agree that the death of Freddie was a wrong that those responsible for should pay. But last night this wasn't about Freddie.

The potential will always exist until you solve the root problems, but at this time there would have been none. There would have been nothing to ignite the spark and led thugs and criminals to a take over in riotous response like last night.

You don't solve decades of "root problems" as you term them, with destruction of your own community, and mayhem in one night do you? You say that had Freddie not been arrested as he was this wouldn't have happened. Well, that is a double edged sword my friend...Had Freddie not ran, this wouldn't have happened either....You either have law enforcement or you don't....Last night Balto didn't.

There's no one cause to the aggregate system, but the straw that broke the camel's back was aggressive police action against the citizens. So no, a militarized police does not look pleasant and it will not have good results; particularly when we heap it haphazardly onto an already smoldering cauldron of contempt and economic stagnation.

What are you talking about? Last night the police didn't interfere....We saw the result...So, can I take that to mean that what we saw last night you consider just? I hope that's not what you are saying.

I simply don't understand people. While I understand they're pissed off about police brutality they have to realize that acting like animals isn't going to help that situation, right? They have to realize that part of the reason they have so much trouble with the police is because of things like this, right?

I don't think its irrelevant, it would show the issue is a different one than just problems being with cops. But I don't think any would disagree with a independent investigation.

Furious Baltimore mom slaps at her masked teenage son taking part in the rioting. She recognized him on TV throwing rocks at police.

If I didn't know better, I'd think this was an NBA Championship celebration.

BO was on it yesterday.....but ValJar dealt with Hogan the governor. For some reason.

Newly sworn-in Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Monday night the Justice Department will continue its investigation into the death of Freddie Gray and send two top officials to Baltimore in an effort to quell the riots unfolding there. Lynch met Monday evening with President Barack Obama to discuss the riots in Baltimore. The meeting was not called specifically as a result of the situation in Baltimore, the White House said, but Lynch told Obama she'd be monitoring the situation there.

Obama also spoke with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake on Monday, while his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, spoke with Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, the White House said....snip~
