If you look at those trees about 5 years on, the tall one in the middle seems to have done better.

I wonder if it was a lot warmer at that spot than all around?
Related to tree rings, on a local bypass they planted a group of trees all within about 1 week.exactly.. a "range"... we all know thats about all tree rings can provide.. but we are observing "fractions of a percent"... thats why I scoffed at that..not much we can truly know by tree rings unless we are using the same age trees from all over, the same species.. yada..
