Now, "Upper Canada" is faltering, and while I have no problem with transfer payments, this is not how Canada should operate.

I am less concerned about socialists here. After the devastation we handed them in '12, they're phone booth meetings have produced nothing of interest; the new leader was the only candidate and while a nice guy, he's still a socialist. They are trying to re-invent themselves, they went the 'eco route' and opposed an oil pipeline not even proposed yet. That pissed off they're core, unionized workers in the resource industry so they left. The politics here now is "drill mother****er, drill and hurry up on those pipelines". The usually leftist media is harping that there isn't enough development like the Liberals promised.

If you are thinking of coming here, know that it really is a different culture here. Vancouver may look like a busy, industrious city, but one of the biggest industries is leisure. Ontarians sometimes have trouble adapting. A lot of laws are simply ignored here because there isn't a problem. We have marijuana dispensaries on every block and "Insight" the safe injection site is a national pride. I like it laid back like that.
If I have to move, I'll go where my retirement dollars will last and stretch the farthest. BC isn't likely to be that place, since its cost of living isn't any better than here and I'd hate being 3 hours behind everything good that happens here in the east.

Checking results, and then double checking them is a good thing. I fully support that. Don't be upset if I don't consult Joe Blow's blog for my information on the subject though. I prefer actual information.

Here are 'Joe Blow's' (the author of the graph) qualifications to comment on the subject.

Roy W. Spencer received his Ph.D. in meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Before becoming a Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2001, he was a Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where he and Dr. John Christy received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for their global temperature monitoring work with satellites. Dr. Spencer’s work with NASA continues as the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite. He has provided congressional testimony several times on the subject of global warming.

Dr. Spencer’s research has been entirely supported by U.S. government agencies: NASA, NOAA, and DOE. He has never been asked by any oil company to perform any kind of service. Not even Exxon-Mobil.

    About | Roy Spencer, PhD.

Vs the real world the climate models this whole panic is entirely based on are basically sh*t by whatever real world measure you choose to judge them by. Nuff said

Three hours behind is an asset, we know what the news is before it's broadcast.

I hear you and any region worth retiring to has been thought of, it is more expensive to live in the Okanogan than here.

Newfoundland, lowest cost of living, lowest taxes, lowest crime rate, nicest Canadians

Complete, shocking, and inexcusable scientific and mathetical illiteracy abounds. If this forum's members represent a cross-section of society at large, we are truly fubar'd.
If there was actually a THREAT to our future as a nation, or species, then all forums members here would be in a agreement.

Some people just like being scared and having some authority take them by the hand and lead them to what they want to be the true path of righteousness. Cossetted middle class Western lifestyles are too safe for them and they need a threat. Eco panics come and go and this current one has almost run its course. Hundreds of billions being squandered in the process
