Conservative Group Bars Log Cabin Republicans From Event

Hmmm

Where do i start
'

I guess I meant banned but the point is the same. If you cannot associate with sinners, then what about adulterers? Liars? Pilferers?
Did the Pilferer Republicans try to buy booth space and were allowed to? What about the Adulterer Republicans?

Conservatives mentioned religion as an excuse for barring gays from this event.

It's going to be a problem for the GOP in 2016. Not just with gays but with younger women who are pro-abortion.

See above... ^^^^

pro-abortion? There isn't that many people out there that are pro-abortion honestly. According to the numbers while there is more women than men on the extremes on the issue the amount of people on the extremes overall is small. Furthermore, democrats overestimate the importance of the abortion issue by assuming women in general vote based on the abortion stances of candidates.

Actually, it will only be a problem for people who wouldn't vote GOP anyway.

Yeah, well so much for even trying to bring more diversity into the GOP tent.

I've been down this road a million times since the beating the GOP got in 2012. Obama was a not so popular president who was president during a weak economy, yet he easily defeated Romney. I've heard the excuses from Republicans on why Romney lost, so I'm not going to rehash that again. But as a Dem I am happy that many in the GOP believe they don't need the people who openly defy God, nor do they need the young women vote or Hispanics. You're just handing the WH to Hilary.

So the Republicans should have a big tent...but just don't let anyone with strong religious beliefs into it, because people are going to vote on abortion and gay rights and the religious people will wreck the Republicans' chances to grab those voters.

Yes, I'm sure the Republicans are really concerned about what a Democrat thinks they should do to be more effective against the Democrats. Romney sucked as a candidate which is why he lost. The Dems got their doors blown off in the mid terms, so you probably shouldn't be so quick to write the GOP's obituary. These things go in cycles. Always have and always will.

I do enjoy the logic. "You keep nominating non social conservatives, and they keep losing. Clearly what you need to do to win is nominate non social conservatives."

Start a thread here about taxation, or wealth and the conservatives will defend the wealthy and wealth, and criticize the poor. That's as certain as the sun rising tomorrow.

“If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me” (Matthew 19:21)

Jesus said over and over how hard it will be for anyone with wealth to enter the Kingdom of God.

Talk about defying the word of God.

The party in the WH always gets hammered in the mid-terms. See 1938. 1958. 2010 for real bloodbaths.

And BTW it was the Republicans study groups and advisers who after 2012 recommended the GOP become more diverse. WTF would the Dems care?

What happened to the GOP's big tent? Any ideas on that?

Do you have any documentation that proves that the Western Conservative Summit is a GOP event? If not, you've got no point. It would be similar to Planned Parenthood baring Campaign Life from setting up a booth at an event they held.

I'm not sure I understand the outrage. This is a Christian organization that does not recognize gay marriage or abortion. This is not a Republican affair. They invited some of the GOP candidates to speak. Is anyone suggesting they do not have that right? Millions in this country like it or not share their beliefs. And who are any of you to define their morality for them? I would imagine if there was still a pro-life, pro-traditional marriage candidate in the Democrat party, they would have received an invitation as well.

No, not always.

Come on.. Only twice.

From Wiki:

The party of the incumbent president tends to lose ground during midterm elections: over the past 21 midterm elections, the President's party has lost an average 30 seats in the House, and an average 4 seats in the Senate; moreover, in only two of those has the President's party gained seats in both houses.

2 times out of 21.

Oh, then I assume they kicked out those hetrosexuals living together.

And anyone who stole a pen from work, swore or had sex outside of marriage

When I meet a Christian who can get through a day without breaking at least one commandment then I will consider this "shunning". the Jesus I follow died for my sins, yours and gays. As I understand it, Jesus loves sinners.

I guess you don't

Pretty sure we're all sinners.... that's a fact. But some of us are trying to reform ourselves and don't wear a badge that says "Hey I openly sin but want to vote Republican"

Jesus and I do love our fellow man. That's why he said "Go forth and sin NO MORE"

Come on.. enough.

Then you obviously don't understand the meaning of the word always, and if you think 2014 was typical, then you weren't paying attention. Both 2010 and 2014 were huge defeats for the Democrats by any measure. Trying to obscure those two shellackings is pretty disingenuous.

Translation: They already discriminate, so a little more discrimination shouldn't hurt.

Welp, I guess that means all the Westboro Baptist Church should just STFU already.

Least they were being honest with them. They don't want to associate with people who openly defy the word of God.

So they're turning away anyone dressed in multiple fibers, or who may have had more than one marriage, who may have committed adultery, or who may have stolen or cheated for monetary gain....

I don't think so. They don't care about the word of god. They're just grossed out by the concept of sodomy. I actually am grossed out by it as well, hence I don't participate though I hear it's all the rage with young women these days to be sodomized. However, me being grossed out by something only means I shouldn't do it, it doesn't mean I should judge others who choose to do it.

There's not one ounce of "caring about the word of god," it's flat out bigotry.

2010 was.. I even mentioned it. 2014? No, I'll nick pick like you are about me using the word always. You obviously don't know the meaning of the word shellacking. Losing 13 and 9 is not a shellacking.

Anyway you keep believing the GOP doesn't need to diversify. The DNC appreciates that kind of thinking.

Good Day.

I've been intimately familiar with senior leaders in both GOProud and Log Cabin Republicans and it pains me immensely that these valuable, bright, and courageous men and women are so obviously rejected by huge portions of the party. At best they are held up as baubles to trot out in front of the media when accusations of bigotry are hurled their way and more usually they are ignored or shunted aside as though they are a dirty little secret. The insularity of the aging social conservative mass which exerts so much control over the party is horrendously destructive. I'm still stunned when I attend conventions or go to local GOP events and I'm confronted with the same slogans about gay marriage or 'traditional marriage' that I heard ten years ago. It's mind boggling that so many people haven't been able to realize that the world has changed and that they need to bury the god damn hatchet. It's why we'll nominate a candidate who will be too afraid to accept SSM in 2016 and one of the many reasons we'll be successfully tarred as the party of reactionaries and cultural dinosaurs. It might also be one of the reasons we lose.

But by all means have your convention. We all know gays can't be conservative people of faith.

Sigh........Sigh..........Sigh...........

I don't agree with all your beliefs but I don't think that is enough to classify you as a bigot.
These people do not support gay marriage. Half of the country doesn't. Heck not even all gays support it. Are they bigots too?
Enough of this manufactured nonsense.

The GOP is a very big tent indeed...as long as you're a white anglo-saxon conservative (heterosexual) protestant who believes in the inalienable right of everyone to think precisely the way you do (and that anyone who doesn't is somehow less American than you are).

Yes because we're oppressing you by opposing you.

A bigot is not a person who simply disagrees with someone.

I never said it didn't need to diversify. And if you think losing 9 Senate seats isn't a big deal, well alrighty then.
