(Reuters) - Julian Assange has agreed to be questioned at Ecuador's London embassy over allegations of sexual assault, his Swedish lawyer said on Thursday.
The WikiLeaks founder has been holed up inside the embassy since June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden over allegations he assaulted two women in 2010. He denies the allegations.
Swedish prosecutors said last month they wanted to question Assange in London, backing down from a previous demand it happen in Sweden. Assange's lawyers had welcomed the request but had up until now not formally agreed to the arrangement.

Assange has agreed to answer questions to prosecutors over the sexual assault allegations. His fears have always been if he returned to Sweden he will be extradited to the US over Wikileaks activities. Assange has agreed to ask answer prosecutor questions in the embassy he is staying at and as of now just waiting for word from the prosecutors.

This has been a mess since the start. It may not really matter what questions the prosecution has over the sexual assault allegations, there is no real reason to assume any movement in the disposition of that case simply because he is at an embassy where little can be done no matter how he answers those questions.

It all comes down to what happens assuming he ever leaves the embassy.
