So if someone is killing you, you are going to worry about their due process?

The guy should be charged with involuntary manslaughter, and the police department should be sued by the family members.

But I have little simpathy for the guy that got shot. If you don't run, argue or fight with police, you won't get shot. Take your battle to court. And if you're running because you know you are guilty, and get shot, realize you took that chance. Does not make it right. Stand outside with a long pole in your hand during a thunderstorm, don't get mad if you get hit with lightning.

For the most part I am in favor of the model as laid out in our Constitution. The one where the court system dishes out the punishment.

He is being charged with manslaughter.

From what I saw on the video, there's no doubt whatsoever that the man was completely subdued, i.e., a cop at his legs, one twisting his arms behind his back attempting to put him in cuffs, another with his knee on his head (being ground into the pavement no less - Ouch! ). Yeah, he was completely subdued at that point. To that, I agree with you. Using the taser on him at this point would have been overkill. But unfortunately, the man's dead not from excessive force (though I'd contend such was used in this case), but from recklessness, stupidity or lack of awareness/attention to detail.

Sure, and wear a short skirt, don't get mad if a guy rapes you. It's sad that there are multiple people on this board who feel that victims deserve no sympathy if they did anything immoral. He could have had a mental illness that caused his behavior as well, but there's not that much we're going to find out at this point because somebody killed him.

Its called holding yourself responsible for your decisions. If everyone around you is telling you that your actions / behavior have no concequences then you will find yourself with a generation of people with no common sense. They really believe that they can act however they want wherever they are and its ok because society tells them that its ok to be naieve. There are people out there that are just not good people, and they will take advantage of naieve people like the ones you want to raise.

Nah uh...no changing it up. You are claiming that getting shot is the victim's fault for resisting, for not paying child support, for doing drugs, for running away in fear, etc.

Nice dishonesty comin' out there tho, when you cant support your statements. No worries...your statements are there in black and white and they're not going anywhere.
