If S-300 was part of UN ban, Putin wouldn't allow it's sale to Iran, since Russia actually obeys UN resolutions, unlike US and israhell. If it's lifted, then it's not part of UN bans.
What does the UN resolution say about Iran testing and using Ballistic Missiles? Where was that part about using defensive ballistic missiles, again?

Although classified as a defensive system, the S-300 can certainly be used as an offensive weapon with a target range of 155 miles. Ergo, targeted aircraft need not be in Iranian airspace. All aircraft flying over the Persian Gulf are vulnerable to attack.

Mornin Simplexity. What do you think Putin's message to the US is? That would be with this specific move.

Do you think this will help Iran agree to the deal?

This just confirms for me that one way or the other Iran will have a nuke. Russian will have it's land bridge to Crimea The eastern Med will fall completely under Russian influence, and Iran will control the Levant, the Persian Gulf, and the approaches to the Red Sea. Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt will be left to their own devices and remedies. In two short years that region will look entirely different, and will pose nearly insurmountable problems for Western Europe as well.

Maybe. Iran will have a highly sophisticated missile system to protect its nuclear infrastructure and a weapons daddy on the UNSC to help it out there also.

What Russia is trying to accomplish is to make up for lost leverage that has resulted from strained U.S. relations with Iran. Russia as used these strained relations as leverage against the U.S. With this agreement, the leverage will be gone, and Russia needs to create another point of leverage.

Has BO or any on his Team sent word to Putin yet? Any response back by WH Spokesperson Josh?

Russia says an arms embargo of Iran will cease when when a deal is reached with the P5+1. In the event Iran cheats on a deal, the S-300 system would make air and cruise missile strikes much more difficult.
Yeah ... and don't forget this kind of deal is yet another red line crossed.

Russian Missile Sales to Iran Cross White House

Russia’s previous ban on selling Tehran the powerful defense system was hailed as a coup by the Obama administration and promoted by it as an example of President Obama’s ability to rein in Russian intransigence on the military front.
    ...
One senior Obama administration official speaking in 2010 described the S-300 sale as a “red line” for the United States that “couldn’t be crossed,” according to Foreign Policy.
Swear to God, we've become a world joke ... and that ain't an accident.

Quite provocative, even for Russia wouldn't you say B? All done thru the Framework Understanding, huh?

Oh my. what wasps have been disturbed by poking that nest.

If there is not war, it will be because someone wiser the Obama has interceded and found a solution. Countries do not buy missiles because they have peaceful intentions.
