Iran will only sign nuclear deal if sanctions lifted 'same day': Rouhani

doesn't it take 2/3 vote of congress to override? does it really have that much support? that's pretty significant.

says here it "tentatively" has 64 votes which is 3 shy: Barbara Boxer Tells Bob Corker It's 'Reckless' And 'Irresponsible' To Vote Now On Iran Bill

I think they will be 2 over.....when all is said and done.

Chuck Schumer bucks White House on Iran.....

The comments Monday by the Democratic leader-in-waiting illustrate the enormity of the task ahead for Obama and his team: While there’s no guarantee that Congress would ultimately reject an agreement with Iran, there’s an increasingly bipartisan consensus that Congress should at least have the ability to do so.

Within the Senate Democratic Caucus, a dozen senators have either co-sponsored Corker’s legislation or indicated they could support it. That would put the measure one vote shy of a veto-proof majority. On Monday, three more Democratic senators — Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Claire McCaskill of Missouri — left open the possibility of voting for it, according to aides. Their support, however, could hinge on whether Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), the new ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee, is able to negotiate concessions that alleviate concerns the bill could derail any agreement.

But White House press secretary Josh Earnest declined to entertain that possibility, telling reporters on Monday that the White House sees no way to reconcile Corker’s bill with the president’s mission of finishing Iran negotiations before Congress votes on anything.....snip~

well I guess that's why they'll have to vote on it and see I suppose. seems a far cry from your statement that "looks like corker will have the override" though.

Doesn't look like a far cry to many......especially being one shy and having 3 more come out after Shumer and his thoughts on it. This past Monday.

April 14th is the vote.....and Corker has really never been one to run around bragging.

from your article: "Within the Senate Democratic Caucus, a dozen senators have either co-sponsored Corker’s legislation or indicated they could support it."

so, the bill could have enough support to be one shy of passage. Then another three could be open to supporting it. all of which "could hinge on whether Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), the new ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee, is able to negotiate concessions that alleviate concerns the bill could derail any agreement."

I dunno, I just think you're way, way too confident that all of that means the bill will "likely" have the override, but I'm just basing that opinion off what you've said so far.

Well I figure McCaskill will carry BO's water and Manchin and Gillibrand will go with Congress and their duty. But that's alright.....its fine with your doubting. A few others have some bills too.

We will see if the Republicans are all talk or back to having no spine.

On the whole, I am tending towards opposing this unless many parameters are far more explicitly defined. As it is now, Iran has excess wriggle room. For example...

"Iran's military sites cannot be inspected under the excuse of nuclear supervision." -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei | 9 April 2015

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC/Pasdaran) is part and parcel of the Iranian military. It is a major player in the Iranian nuclear program and engages in research, security, domestic nuclear parts procurement and fabrication (via university laboratories, weapons manufacturers, and companies connected to nuclear technology), and foreign nuclear-related procurement (via cyber-hacking and front companies).

For all practical purposes, the IRGC acts as a parallel-agency to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI). The IRGC also controls Iran's ballistic missile forces.

Now you're talkin'.

Exactly Anthony :2wave:.....as it is clear about one thing when it comes to Iran. Democrats were always weak on the issue, Democrats show they are still weak on the Issue, and that they really don't have any idea how to handle Foreign Affairs.

Absolute ****ing failures that should have to suffer consequences for the fools they always have been.

I'm suspicious about that head-count when it's that close.
Tells me the votes aren't based on doing the right thing but rather a balance between saving their own ass and protecting Obama's.

Looks like those that will be up for election on the Demo Team.....has a whole lot to worry about then. Not only with this issue.....but also with those Democrats that were about selling out Israel. Seems their careers in politics will be coming to an end.

The first question to Hillary when she declares should be exactly how she intends to handle a nuclear Iran.

Nah, I have been calling some I know in the Media and questioning why are they laying off the WH being hacked via State Dept Computers. Knowing Hillary's Private server and email was hacked. That they can't give her any break on this. Country comes first not Hillary.

I was trying to get the point across about any reporters trying to give cover and how they will be played, with more dirt to coming out on the matter. I emphasized especially with who gets on the Morning Political talk shows. Some didn't like it, some don't care, a couple of a few are on board. Would luv to get a scoop.

It'll come eventually. I've said from the start of this that her mail was hacked. There's no way it wasn't by the usual suspects, given that the Romanian guy got in so easily. The production of her server isn't even necessary. She's going to try to get ahead of this mess, but there are just too many intersections that can be opened nobody could anticipate - even the Clintons and their team. That, among other things, will dog her throughout her campaign. Besides, I don't think the public is ready for another liar. Obama fooled many. Hillary doesn't have the luxury of anonymity.

Interesting idea....and a tactic of the left here.

in the early 80's the socialist NDP served the premier of the province with a subpoena ...

It backfired, was seen as a tactic and a personal vendetta.

What the Republicans need to do on this file is remain as non personal as possible, keep it professional and avoid any appearance of a personal thing, as Hillary will cash in on the left's favorite ploy, martyrism.

If it were me, I would save the 'next best hit' for when she is underway, has officially declared and is out there, making promises and saying **** that can be used against her. The drop the bomb.

Four days ago I wrote this:

Rouhani is in a difficult position. On the day the framework agreement was announced, jubilant and cheering crowds gathered all over Iran. The Iranian population of 80 million is young. 42% of Iranians are under the age of 25. Sequestration from the international community has affected them profoundly. They were madly cheering because they expect to see and experience tangible results from any nuclear agreement. They expect more job prospects, a higher standard of living, and higher wages. And if all this betterment doesn't materialize very soon, the regime is in trouble ... and could even fall. Which is why Rouhani is demanding that all sanctions end immediately once a final agreement is signed.

However, I cannot personally support any final agreement in which all nuclear-related sanctions (UN/US/EU) are terminated immediately. No P5+5 nation should even fleetingly consider such a concession. Sanctions should only be lifted in timed tranches and based on optimum performance and total compliance.

Can they be more transparent?

and there we have the big question. Will the American voter call an end to the constant weasel fabrications?

The hope in me says it will, and the obvious machinations of Hillary will be seen for what they are, a morally bankrupt individual who has been skirting the law all her life, the presidential wannabe who had an investment company that never once made a losing investment.

It is my hope that the American voter will lose interest in politicians who have "explanations" after the fact, changing stories and the ability to lie as superbly as "If you like your plan...."

However, we are seeing a trend. There was Jimmy Carter and his resume', his constant self inflating. We have seen it in the candidates the left has chosen to run, other than Obama, could there be a more self involved, self promoting, resume' padding candidate than John Kerry?

And then we have "I did not have sex with that woman" and lies under oath and the sleazy, low life **** off misfit got away with it. Even Nixon had the juice to resign and let the country heal.

And now, well this walking fraud is evident and obvious, he's lying when his lips are moving, his campaigns have been lies, his signature legislation was sold on a lie and he remains in office on a lie.

At this point the left jumps in with "what about Bush?' in its constant quest to which I can only say "add 'em up", no weigh them in bulk and this president has told more lies than all the others combined and he still has two years to go.

Have the American people had enough?

If so, Hillary is doomed.

So anti American, calling all democrats ****ing failures and fools.

Nah, thats not Anti American.....but nice try anyways.

Now your usual.....that's whats termed Anti American. As you don't talk about what the US does that is good or when they were Right.

I think more will be discovered and her aides will end up taking most of the heat.....already other committee members have come out saying they want to talk to Mills and Abedin, then Blumenthal.
