And I do believe, like Jeb Bush, Paul will bring a desire to discuss issues seriously during debates, something that should be welcomed and encouraged.

That said, I believe he lacks a world view/perspective that is essential in an American President - the last 6 plus years have shown how dangerous it is for an American President to be disengaged from world dynamics. Paul is very much isolationist, like his father, and like it or not America will never be able to retreat to its own borders.

I think Paul speaks to the same small fraction of the Republican party that Cruz speaks to - at least Paul doesn't speak like a lunatic, so that's good for him. Paul had to announce shortly after Cruz, to ensure he captures as much of that fraction as possible before it's too late.

I do admire, at least somewhat, any person who puts themselves forward to serve their country in this manner, particularly when you consider the desire of 50% of the population to destroy you the minute you announce. I wish him good luck.
Considering that Rand and nearly flip flopped on all of his issues I dont see anything of value he can bring as far as policies.

Uhhh the polls i linked to are specifically about the state of Iowa, from Iowan Republicans at large, and in all of them they dont show Paul coming close to being the winner in Iowa.....

Its true.....and I said they wont be able to gain it for sometime. Who do they have to run in 2020 Should their Hillary lose. Answer.....No one of any significance. So if they lose in 2020. If they don't get anyone that can be popular enough for the left by 2024. They will lose again. Which would be over a decade.

I think he would refer to that as not being rigid ideologically, but I can't say that I know all his policy positions at this point. He simply seems like a calm, well spoken, rational individual who isn't overtly political and that's refreshing. I still think Jeb Bush will be the next President.

Yeah, they didn't show the same for his dad when he ran against Romney too. Okay.....whatever, now all can see how you are a GOP insider.

I am more inclined to respect a man who can learn and is man enough to admit he was wrong.

anyone who I have ever met who refuses to consider any form of change has been found also to be ignorant

Look at any Rand Paul speech/quote before 2010 and none of that describes him

If that what happened so be it, but considering just how many things he has changed from a radical stance to a mainstream republican stance I dont think that is the case

I heard him speak before 2010. Do you think he was irrational and not well spoken then? I was impressed the first time I heard him speak, which was actually on Sirius Patriot radio...I think it was on Mike Church's show. I've always found him a calm and rational speaker. JMO.

But it has gotten meaner and nastier over the years, and especially so since Obama lost the last election and the Republicans took over. It has become way more personal in here, I seldom get a response from a so called liberal that does not being with a personal insult along the lines that I am stupid or have "reading comprehension problem" while the core aspect of the post, damning is political terms, is ignored completely.

It has become ugly and mean, the sign of shallowness.

The Amerikan Liberal cannot seem to tolerate any difference, fellow Americans who disagree have to be denigrated not just opposed, and evenb a radical hopeless like this dolt have to be hysterically attacked.

It really is desperation and very sad to watch a country self destruct over petty **** like wedding cakes. Death threats FFS!
You are savvy to the ways of the media and the politics of personal destruction.

Don't you think the **** like wedding cakes is a deliberate diversion to pull the attention away from the things that do matter like corruption, deception, fraud, graft, cover ups, extortion, and/or incompetence? I can start a dozen threads on things that really matter and such threads at most attract a few tepid responses and usually die an early death. But post something dumb Sarah Palin said or even casually mention that gay wedding cake in passing, and we're off the races for pages and pages and days and days.

What makes this pertinent to this thread topic, is that Rand Paul is not going to be allowed to really discuss his point of view or what he can offer to the debate. Nobody is. There will always be something else to draw the media attention and the national discussion.
