A vote for Huntsman wouldn't be a vote against. It would be for.

I can't say yet that a vote for Rand Paul would be a vote against. I'm keeping an open mind about him. I just know that hell will freeze over before I would consider voting for either Hillary or Biden.

Rand made some good points, was too general overall. But he just got started and will have to shine during the debates. I doubt very much that the establishment lets him off the leash though.
The establishment seems to think he is already off the leash. As previously posted, Lindsay Graham recently said Hillary would do a better job than Barack Obama as would ALL the GOP candidates or potential candidates EXCEPT for Rand Paul.

But here's the rundown on what we know of Rand Paul's positions so far:

    Rand Paul "On the Issues"

    Abortion:
•Thousands of exceptions follow from maternal health. (May 2013)
•Coarsening of our culture led to 50 million unborn deaths. (Sep 2012)
•My opponents call me libertarian but I'm pro-life. (Feb 2011)
•Life begins at conception. (Jul 2010)
•Opposes federal abortion funding. (Aug 2010)
•Prohibit federal funding for abortion. (May 2011)

•We cannot continue to borrow $50,000 per second. (Mar 2013)
•Sequester doesn't cut spending; it just slows rate of growth. (Mar 2013)
•FactCheck: US borrowing $30,000 per second, not $50,000. (Feb 2013)
•Borrowing $50,000 per second is not sustainable. (Feb 2013)
•America needs Adam Smith, not Robin Hood. (Feb 2013)
•Penny Plan: Each $1 by one penny & balance budget by 2019. (Feb 2013)
•Keep the sequester, and increase it to $4T. (Feb 2013)
•Not every military dollar is necessary, nor every entitlement. (Aug 2012)

•Cut corporate tax in half to create millions of jobs. (Feb 2013)
•Kelo decision was dangerous landmark in US law. (Sep 2012)
•Punishing the rich means the poor lose their jobs. (Aug 2012)

Yeah, that's why your poll don't mean much when in Iowa. Which is why I said Paul can win there.

Its true.....and I said they wont be able to gain it for sometime. Who do they have to run in 2020 Should their Hillary lose. Answer.....No one of any significance. So if they lose in 2020. If they don't get anyone that can be popular enough for the left by 2024. They will lose again. Which would be over a decade.

You know for a "faint hope" candidate this guy sure draws a lot of socialist heat.

Like Sarah Palin they are terrified of this guy along with some Republicans.

Oh for sure. If Rand Paul starts gaining any serious traction, they will pull out all the stops and go digging for anything to use against him, make him look like a nut case, or discredit him in any way possible. If they can't find anything they can make look legitimate to use for that purpose, they'll make something up.

We are long past the day in politics where anybody was able to win by simply offering a more believable or attractive game plan. These days it is more likely to be the media's choice of candidate who gets the nomination, and then the left leaning media will do everything in its power to discredit the GOP candidate and make the Dem candidate look as good as possible.

Yes, but a hell of a doozy speech, with two or three notable exceptions, his evolution over the past few years has moved him far out of the realm of my support. Oh, and if we are going to say "THEE" enemy is a religion, we're in for a riot ride.

By our standards American politics have been way too super charged with negative attack ads. When I used to pay attention to US media I often remarked that I knew the personal lives of every candidate for every office in Washington state, but nothing about what they stood for.

But it has gotten meaner and nastier over the years, and especially so since Obama lost the last election and the Republicans took over. It has become way more personal in here, I seldom get a response from a so called liberal that does not being with a personal insult along the lines that I am stupid or have "reading comprehension problem" while the core aspect of the post, damning is political terms, is ignored completely.

It has become ugly and mean, the sign of shallowness.

The Amerikan Liberal cannot seem to tolerate any difference, fellow Americans who disagree have to be denigrated not just opposed, and evenb a radical hopeless like this dolt have to be hysterically attacked.

It really is desperation and very sad to watch a country self destruct over petty **** like wedding cakes. Death threats FFS!

Rand Paul is a decent, sensible man who's not overly political and doesn't have any problem expressing how he feels. Not every response out of his mouth is carefully crafted for a sound bite or to avoid damage. That's to be admired in a public official, in my view. And I do believe, like Jeb Bush, Paul will bring a desire to discuss issues seriously during debates, something that should be welcomed and encouraged.

That said, I believe he lacks a world view/perspective that is essential in an American President - the last 6 plus years have shown how dangerous it is for an American President to be disengaged from world dynamics. Paul is very much isolationist, like his father, and like it or not America will never be able to retreat to its own borders.

I think Paul speaks to the same small fraction of the Republican party that Cruz speaks to - at least Paul doesn't speak like a lunatic, so that's good for him. Paul had to announce shortly after Cruz, to ensure he captures as much of that fraction as possible before it's too late.

I do admire, at least somewhat, any person who puts themselves forward to serve their country in this manner, particularly when you consider the desire of 50% of the population to destroy you the minute you announce. I wish him good luck.
A Canadian conservative is one who believes in limited government and that the government should stay out of our wallets and out of our bedrooms.
