What is this "balance" that you speak of? What is the price associated to a dead lake? Plus, you present a false choice - who says environmental needs are NOT economic needs? Isn't this a perfect example of a race to the bottom? You seem to assert that a green lake is "balance". What about if the next state lowers their regulations or environmental funding? The first state has a green lake and nothing to show for it, while the state that just stole the business goes on it's way to creating it's own green lake

This is not race to the bottom? Just because you have identified a program that you do not like, does that mean we're not eliminating programs for the sake of stealing business? What if we eliminate fire or police? Does that interest you?

Is this an argument of a "normal intelligent person"? Seems a little light on the intelligence to me.
Water running off the land and streets is causing Ice melt and rising sea levels? Man, you really have drank the kool-aid.
What new chemicals are being picked that haven't been there for 50+ years and the lakes are still fine? The only "dead lakes" that I know of in the US became that way because of invasive species brought in from elsewhere that have no natural enemies.

Taking away jobs for the sake of "green" initiatives is a race to the bottom. A natural competition exists between all species. Take away the jobs, how are people supposed to live?

The welfare state is a race to the bottom. Personally, cutting Fire wouldn't affect me. I live in places that only have volunteer fire departments, not government funded ones. As far as Police go, Policing is a primary function of any government. But, hey, if they were gone, we could always look at the plus, no one would arrest us for shooting greenie-weenies and socialist.
Be sure to work hard and get lots of overtime. People on welfare want more steaks and free upgrades to smart phones with unlimited data packages.

Please show me where I used the word "causing".

    Then consider yourself re-informed:
Let me google that for you

This is a false choice. Environmental work requires labor just like anything else. Again, I'm not sure you grasp the concept of a race for the bottom, or even labor needs in general. If a business has more regulation and more taxes, it moves to another state to employ FEWER people with higher profits.

Do you still live in a town with bucket brigades? Do you have no station, no trucks? Is this another declaration of your superior intelligence?

So it looks like the state is going to accomplish the same goal with less money. Kudos to Scott Walker

If this statement is from officials that serve at the pleasure of Walker, it should be viewed with some skepticism because one would expect someone in that position to say that the governor is doing the right thing. It would have been more comforting if the official had said that we requested this cut because we didn't need it to accomplish our goals.

Yeah, because, as stated before, there's unlimited funds and people that earn money love giving more and more of it away.
