I suspect that the money is being donated by people that have had enough of bigots infringing on the free right of Americans to practice as their conscience demands. They probably realize that if we allow those gay activism bigots to get their way and suppress that conscientiously objecting minority, then there will be future minorities with other aggravating beliefs they want to express suppressed in the name of yet unknown causes by yet unformed coalitions du jour. And they realize that all of a sudden it might be them getting the stick of a new crazed majority and that that is the reason the Constitution demanded that minorities may not be suppressed in the expression of opinions religious nor political.
The reporter who setup the GoFundMe account works for The Blaze.
So the consipiracy theory is a coordinated effort between the pizzeria owners & Glenn Beck? Get out the tin foil hats!
It is cynical. It is also not very plausible. The media, desperate for a local turn to a state story, went out searching until they found a restaurant owner (any restaurant owner) willing to say they would not serve a gay wedding, tried to turn them into a sacrificial victim, and instead it backfired.
How do you plan a scam that requires the random actions of a media outlet? Mind control?
So, they enticed a reporter to come into their restaurant and ask them whether or not they would cater a gay wedding so that they could set up a fund when they started getting death threats and threats of violence and vandalism?
Man, the ability of left wingers to spin up a bunch of nonsense in a conspiracy theory is unparalleled. It's an index of how hateful they are, I suppose.
What you are seeing is the wholesale rejection of gay activism by ordinary people. That's what all the money coming to that fund means. Whatever they might think of gay people, people despise gay activists. They despise self-styled social justice warriors. Gay activists are mean, evil and intolerant. They deserve this embarrassment.
