One Dead After NSA Gate Attack

MARCH 31, 2015

One man has been killed while another has been seriously injured in a shooting at the gate of the headquarters of the National Security Agency, near Washington. The NSA officers fired on a vehicle after it refused to obey their commands to stop and charged past a police vehicle that was blocking the road. An unnamed official said that the car held two men who were dressed as woman and one of them died at the scene while the other was taken to a hospital.

The attack took place just after 9am local time at the NSA section of the Fort Meade facility. In a rare public statement, the NSA said that the driver refused to obey the command to stop and leave the secure area, from the NSA police officer. The vehicle then continued to charge towards an NSA vehicle, hitting it and it was then that the police fired on it, according to the statement. There is no mention as to whether the men had any weapons.

FBI Baltimore spokeswoman Amy Thoreson said that they did not believe at this point that the incident was connected to terrorism.
I'm interested in the FBI rationale. Two men dressed as women crashing a NSA checkpoint at Fort Meade in a stolen SUV isn't your typical "took a wrong turn" fare.

My first guess was the driver and passenger were from the Secret Service.

From all I heard and read, what choice did the NSA officer have but to stop them? It saddens me that one lost his life and the other is severely injured after a night of fun.
How about taking a cab instead of driving under the influence? But that's another story.

**** the NSA anyways.
The NSA is a double-edged sword. While it is true enough that some of its collection/metadata activities are unsavory, it does protect US critical national-interest assets such as government, financial, energy, and other infrastructure institutions from foreign cyber probes and attacks that ensue constantly. In an almost invisible revolution, private contractors are increasingly protecting these critical national assets and are becoming indispensable to US cyber security, much like private contractors have become indispensable to the US military.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Psychic prediction: "they were Muslim".

So the official version is that one guy picked up two cross dressing guys and they all made to a hotel where they spen an evening partying together. In the AM, the two cross dressing men got up, put on thier wigs, stole the other guys SUV, and rammed the gates to make a statement.

I DO NOT want to see the cell phone pics from THAT party....

At least one gun and drugs were found in the stolen Ford Escape the men were riding in.

Quite a motel party, but they chose the wrong crash pad ;)

Not exactly what I would call an "attack."

I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you questioning why the men were shot at or are you questioning why the FBI doesn't believe it was connected to terrorism?

If it's the former, I think it's standard practice that if someone tries to break into a secure facility anywhere in the world, they will be stopped using whatever force is necessary.

If it's the latter, I would think that it's too early in the investigation of the two men to determine their motive, if there was one, or what affiliations they may have.

It is bizarre, but then nothing that happens in America these days really surprises me.
