I said a code that only the pilots know.
How is that going to help al Qaeda get inside...they won't have the code obviously? And neither will the rest of the crew. So how is that going to help al Qaeda gain access (assuming both pilots are in the cockpit)?
And if one pilot leaves the cockpit and a terrorist grabs him and forces him to punch in the code...there can be an emergency shut down code that can only be used from outside the cockpit when the door is closed. It would immediately lock down the door until the pilot inside unlocks it.
So the pilot outside the cockpit could disable the system to deny a terrorist entrance to the cockpit.
They're now reporting that the Co-pilot was trained in Arizona.
Shades of 9/11
Oh? Only known to the pilot. Of course. Why didn't I think of that. Foolproof.
Different code for each airplane or a different code for each pilot and all the aircraft will respond to any pilot's code?

Assuming you are being sarcastic...nothing is foolproof. But it will reduce the chances of a pilot murder-suicide and still keep terrorists from gaining access to the cockpit.
As for the code? I say have the pilots re-tune the code before each flight.
What would you do if the person flying the plane had a bad day and decided to dive the plane into the ground? Fill us in.
In the past in these pilot murder-suicides, the airline refuses to admit it even when the evidence was overwhelming.
So far this is also true for this disaster. But the evidence is overwhelming that it was the case regardless. The same is likely true of MH370. We will know for sure when we find the pilot alone in the cockpit sitting on the bottom of the ocean.
