Looks like Senator Cruz is going to be the first out of the gate. I find it kind of hilarious that he's making his announcement at Liberty University. If you want to signal that you have no real intention of being the nominee or winning the Presidency this is the way to do it. I see many a book deal in his future.

Ugh. I'd trade anything for Cruz not to be standing on the stage at the first Republican debate.
Like, two Huckabees. Give me two Huckabees or Santorum's smug mug and a half. Just don't make me listen to Cruz. :hammer:

I feel the exact same way. I just want the crazies to stop sabotaging the party and its chances.

I'm sure that Cruz will write a few books. But the only way that he'll ever see the inside of the White House is as a guest.

I'm sure that he'll have a lot of support from the far-right evangelicals in the GOP, but they'll never put him in the White House.

The man is too far-right to ever get elected president.

He's running with that on the testimony of two attorneys that he's eligible, lol.

True, but their votes will more easily translate to the next viable. There's not just Cruz strategy, there's GOP strategy. I wish I shared your optimism that America won't give the WH back to the GOP this time.

I don't believe that the majority of American voters are going to put someone in the White House who supports the idea of getting the U.S. Government off of Wall Street's back and into every American bedroom.

I hear you shrub, hope you're correct, but I'm not sure.

Senator Ted Cruz is such an unappealing, polarizing individual with his extreme set of opinions, criticisms, and beliefs, that nowhere in my imagination can I ever envision this political fanatic being president of the US. Even among Republicans he's 3rd tier and is accepted chiefly by the Tea Party extremist group.

I'm just going to say that I hope that the GOP is dumb enough to run Cruz, he'll be a bigger loser than some of the other guys.

Bigot

You say that only because he is Canadian LOL

He's far too politically young to be a meaningful candidate for the GOP, but given how we already have Carson and Trump in the mix, Cruz may as well jump in.

Should be fun.

That! I would totally agree with.

.:2wave: Hey, fellow poster, I am with you. There is something about Cruz that is so menacing I feel ill listening to him and unable to switch channels fast enough.

If you watch more than five minutes of this idiot, it makes you want to take a shower.

Amen! Hallelujah! You have hit the nail directly on the head. The man is a frightening creature. The other day along with some other Republican speakers before a mainstream crowd, the announcer said prior to Ted Cruz's turn to speak: "Even though you might not like some of the speakers, please show civility and not boo."

The average American cannot abide the Texas US senator.

How true! I'm delighted to find there are others who feel as strongly regarding Cruz. He is Canada's reject. When he enters the senate the other senators look down at their shoes.

Everyone realizes Trump is too dumb to be considered as serious. Carson doesn't have any special qualities that would appeal to mainstream America; he blew it when he said being Gay is a choice. The ambitiously hungry Ted Cruz is in a category all his own...a plague on the Republican Party who rubs people the wrong way just by opening his mouth. He can possibly influence elections, but he'll never be a viable candidate for the White House in my humble opinion.

Have actually enjoyed some of his movies but not all that crazy about his religion, but for the life of me I can't imagine hearing President Tom Cruise.

Not really. That is a position Santorum would not disagree with, and Santorum was second in line in for the Republican nomination three years ago. What ends Carson's chances is his resume, not his position on homosexuality.

As for Ted, you can say with some degree of certainty that he will not win as President of the United States with the current resume. He only got into office in 2012. You can even have the inclination to believe that even with time Cruz may not win the nomination with an improved resume (my own personal inclination). However, when Cruz steps in (and may continue to step in down the road), you still have to pay some amount of attention.

I hold absolutely no confidence in Ted Cruz as a politician and find him little more than a demagogue who holds the title of Senator. Nevertheless, you can't automatically discount his chances in the next few to several years. The only way you'd be able to do that is see where the wind blows after 2016, because if a Republican becomes President, Cruz will have to wait quite a long time to sit in the Oval Office (a decade after a Republican's first term is a somewhat conservative estimate, but also fairly established in history).

Announcing at "liberty" U he intends to take an oath to uphold the separation of church and state...

Also what an attention whore: announcing the announcement

Cruz will lower the integrity of anyone else on that stage

But make no mistake, santorum is as much a fanatical religious zealot as cruz
