Obama: Maybe it's time for mandatory voting

Re: Mandatory Voting

Obama would as long as they vote democrat. The man is all politics all the time.

Which makes him different from any other lump in Washington how, exactly?

Re: Mandatory Voting

How about Obama mandatory GTFO of the White House, the ****ing asshole.

I wasn't aware the Obama lied to start an unneeded war that cost trillions of dollars, and thousands of American lives. Oh wait. it wasn't him.

I don't know. I can't find where I said he was different from any other lump.

You're obviously in the wrong thread, this one's about voting.

Re: Mandatory Voting

Kind of a tuff one. I looked up the 22 countries that have this, a few in Europe, a few in the Middle East, a few in Asia, a bunch in Latin America, Mexico...............and Australia!!!!

I get the liberty aspect, but it would seem that that may be trumped by survival, and the escape of a fascist state. Of course the GOP will be against it, for two reasons, A. It's Obama's idea and B. They don't like voter turn out and admittedly see their chances of winning elections go up as voter turn out goes down.

That's one really partisan way to look at it. How about 'C'?

Shouldn't someone have just as much of a right to not vote, as to being forced to vote for two complete dummies (IE: very recent elections)?

Re: Mandatory Voting

I think this issue is one of those that democrats would love to happen and republicans hate the idea of simply because the republican brand is dying and well, just like the popularity of computers eventually death solved that problem and they took off.

Obama: Maybe it's time for mandatory voting - CNN.com

What do you think? On the one hand, many died for our right to vote. Everyone should vote in my mind. However, should you have the right to not vote if you dislike the candidates?

As with everything else Obama does, this is political. Low voter turnout hurts the democrat party in elections. So forcing people to vote would help his party.

Thats not why Im against it though-im against it because I dont like being FORCED to do anything.

I have a better idea: Easier access to voting, less restrictions, automatic voter registration at birth, and viewing Election Day as a time for businesses to close down for voting.

The President gave a stupid off-the-cuff remark. While people with bad sense vote, the only thing worse than a poor thinker is a person who doesn't give a damn what consequences occur due to their vote.

Sorry dude, stick around for awhile, you won't be calling me a liberal?

I didn't call you a liberal. I called your answer partisan. Which it was. I have respect for everyone and will not judge you based on one comment. Maybe if you'd like, we could explain our political views to one another privately to better understand. If you wish not to, then I'll continue to try and figure your affiliation out by your posts. I'm not gonna stress over it though. You're just one of many commenters I know little about.

Enjoy your day.

Re: Mandatory Voting

I really cant believe how short sighted people are on this issue.

would you please elaborate; what are we missing?

Thanks for that. You'll find in time that I'm no partisan either. You'll learn that I'm primarily concerned with USFP, and particularly hegemony, imperialism, exploitation and military adventurism. I equally criticize bad policy in both parties which tends to keep everybody upset with me, because you're suppose to pick a team and root. I root for what's best for America, Americans, and me, not a party. I would love nothing more than to see an upset to the monopolistic two party system. I'd be thrilled to see a third party candidate as president, and watch the elephant and the ass set one out. That would be fantastic!!!!

Laugh all you want. You don't get it. Fine. Don't vote if you don't want to. Just don't comment on how things are going.
