    Re: Mandatory Voting

    Bad idea.

    1. violates principles of liberty, probably would not stand up to court scrutiny.

    2. do you really want the disinterested, uninformed and indifferent choosing the government?

Australia seems to be in good shape having adopted the practice. I'd like to hear what the Australian voters think about it.

All presidents are all politics all the time. Except maybe when they're cutting brush or playing golf.

What do you think? On the one hand, many died for our right to vote. Everyone should vote in my mind. However, should you have the right to not vote if you dislike the candidates?
purposefully negating the right to vote, which inherently includes the right to not vote ?

    no thank you.

I went back and looked, he seems to be making a funny. Not voting in protest, indifference, ignorance or any other reason isn't really in ones interests. I have no clue how the Australian system works, but if I supported mandatory voting, I'd have to have an alternative to just the ass and the elephant. I don't wish to be forced to vote for the establishment.

I also have been asking for this for years. This is how we'll get new blood in and keep it fair. In fact, I most states that have this idea, in place, have the Election Day, as a holiday.
