Getting too involved with any party in this region is entirely counter productive. It is the Stateside religious hocus pocus thats the main problem that needs addressed here viz Israel in my view.

But hey, you have to start somewhere. While support for Israel is still insanely high in the US, it's been ever so slowly waning, and I'll take that progress to. Perhaps someday, the US gets out of the business of covering for Israeli crimes and one day we see binding resolutions against them!
The Israeli regime has had the same thinking since they became a State - different people over the years, but same thought remains. They aren't forcing any Arab countries to think the way they do - they just want to be left alone to practice their Jewish religion, and to my knowledge no US President until Obama has felt that's a problem, or they would not have been referred to as an ally and "good friend" over the past 60 years.

I'm all in favor of the US staying out of places that are none of our business, no matter where they are! I'm not isolationist, but the ME has been fighting this Sunni vs Shia vs Wahabism, etc, religious war for 1,300 years, and that is not going to change for the next 1,300 years no matter what we think about it. It can't, because their religion and state policy are one and the same thing, and everyone involved believes they're right. And some people criticize religious zealots in the US? Are Lutherans, Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals etc killing each other in the name of religion like the idiots in the ME are? Thou shall not kill, (or commit murder as it is currently stated) is a strong injunction, and our laws uphold that thinking, thankfully. I never once believed that you might advocate joining the group that wants to see Israel disappear, and I still don't, but why your dislike for the Jewish nation of Israel? To many people, it looks like they're just defending themselves against aggressors who just plain don't agree with their beliefs.

Except that's not all that Israel wants. I will agree with you that since their inception, all administrations have advanced the same oppressive policies against the Palestinians and their neighbors. Yes, to many people it looks like Israel is just defending themselves, and to many others they are obnoxious and belligerent. And that's hard to like.

It would seem an error occurred...

On 22 September 2012, General Mohammad Ali Jafari, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, said that eventually a war with Israel would soon break out, during which Iran would eradicate Israel, which he referred to as a "cancerous tumor."[118]

Obama seems to take everything personal and reacts accordingly. The White House release yesterday saying Netanyahu won by resorting to racism was cheap and churlish, a last kick at it after having been humiliated interfering in Israel's elections.
    Greetings, F&L.

When did Israel become racist? Any Jew on this planet is welcome to come and live in Israel, no matter what color they are or what nationality they are - and they have come from all over the world. So where is the racism? The people voted, the opposition conceded the overwhelming results which made Netanyahu the clear winner, and nothing Obama has to say will change that. Sometimes it is better to remain silent....

Racism in Judiasm is a very deep topic, what many see as racism is distinction of their heritage.....it is part of the teachings of the faith to make and create distinctions from "Gentiles", male and female rites such as circumcision which is more than surgery.

His outburst had nothing to do with Israel, but was the petulant response of a sore loser, whose only fall back after losing yet another election was to charge the favorite accusation of which there is no defense, "racism"...you know, that thing Hillary was guilty of when they were both wanting star status, one of the easiest of four accusations to make, the others being homophobe, mysoginist and slut.

Again I say the real issue is what message is he sending to other allies? "I can try to influence your elections with boots on the ground, accuse you of the worst of sins through miner aides, and accuse you of being racist....to an ally.

As an allied country with a Prime Minister hell bent to extend Canada's mission on the ground in Iraq, I find that rather frightening, the man has no allegiances and will throw anyone, Republican, Hillary, allied countries under the first bus when he does not get his way.

I found it noteworthy that before he gave his speech here to the House, Netanyahu took time to give Obama many kudos and kind words. I think he was attempting to show everyone listening around the world that this was a policy disagreement, and nothing personal. So Obama responds by making the Israeli election personal by calling Israel "racist?" Who looks like the Statesman in this case?

Obama and his WH are far too thin skinned, which is why he and his cronies are so bad at what they do.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.
