My observations are that Obama has done a remarkable job cleaning up the Bush mess and is arguably the best president I have witnessed in my 58 some odd years on this planet. I understand that you disagree and we'll just have to leave it at that I suppose.

But, we are in agreement about one thing, Hillary WILL have her hands full trying to navigate the politics of present after she gets sworn in.
Judging by her Book tour ( no one showed up and no one bought her stupid book ) and the fact that the Democrats she stumped for in 2014 no longer have jobs I dont see Hillary as a threat to anyone....except Bill.

One way to do that which has worked well for us before is to promote enlightened, Western political ideals wherever and whenever we can, because people who govern themselves democratically tend to love peace and seek prosperity.

Israel is a free, prosperous nation with a parliamentary government. It would never have fought with any Arab nation if various alliances of them had not attacked or threatened to attack and destroy it--which they did in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973. Part of the price several of those nations paid was the loss of some of their territories when the fighting stopped and the borders adjusted. No nation has ever been obliged to give up land it gained in the course of defending itself against foreign attack. The defenders shed blood for that land, and giving it back to the aggressors would encourage even more aggression by reducing the price they paid for it.

Israel has no quarrel with Iran, either--the two nations are many hundreds of miles apart and have no common border or territorial dispute. And yet since the Jew-hating Khomeinists took power in Iran in 1979, they have continually threatened to attack Israel. They have attacked it, too, by murdering Israelis in a number of countries in terrorist attacks. Some of these have occurred in Europe and some even farther away. Twenty years ago, bombings in Argentina that targeted and killed many Jews were almost certainly the work of Iranian agents. Animosity toward Jews is rooted in the Koran itself, and under shari'ah observant Muslims are called upon to war against them. Extreme fundamentalist Muslims believe Jews are guilty of killing certain messengers that Allah sent before Mohammed.
And it's in our nations interest for us to have all these nations play nice or cost us more taxpayer dollars and lives. We get oil from a lot of these countries. 1+1=2. Do you get it? And the koran doesn't have to be law, just like the bible doesn't have to be law elsewhere. If the bible was law in America, there wouldn't be an American in fact. That is why you reach out to the ones that you can reason with, and try to hold back those that you can't.

In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan

No, you are merely projecting your opinions onto the subject, and deciding therefore that actual belief is mere rhetoric.

Really? I'm making stuff up now? The Ayatollah actively supports the talks. Hardliners in both the US and Iran do not support talks. (Generally speaking.)
That is not correct. Hardliners in Iran support the talks. As a delay mechanism.

your decision about who should be criticized is not based upon any actual moral code, but rather who aligns with the politics you believe in. Which, as I just said to another poster, is quite disturbing
because it suggests your allegiance is not with the United States, but rather your political party.

To be clear to both you and FIL, I do not mind legitimate criticism of any President or any governmental leader. We have a right to express our displeasure with our government. And, most importantly, expressing displeasure with our government leaders does not make one un-American. But, on the flip side, expressing displeasure with the actions of an ally, does not mean we are against said ally. Anyone can criticize Israel and its government, and to say they cannot is absurd. But, even more importantly, claiming one is anti-ally because of said criticism is nothing more than childish partisanship and there is no use for it in reasonable and mature discussion.
There are those word games that distinguish you ... and have exposed you ... I said "value system" and YOU associated that with politics.
Now THAT's disturbing ... and revealing.

I'm struggling to think of any combination between straight and Netanyahu that makes logical sense.

    Greetings, Manc Skipper.

I'm wondering why we are giving money to half the places we do! Doesn't anyone in DC realize we have infrastructure that needs work - especially our grid? Sheesh! People that have to be bought to be our friends I can do without! We've been watching this same movie for years, though... no wonder we have an $18 trillion dollar debt! They think we are Santa Claus! :

Not to mention that the administration laundered state dept money through a leftwing political group to do so.
