    Jeb's Email Problem

So he says he's disclosing everything that's related to government business, but the truth is that no one else has any way to confirm it:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a likely Republican presidential candidate, primarily used a personal email account on his own computer server when he was in office from 1999 to 2007. In December, he posted online hundreds of thousands of emails from both the private and government accounts. Mr. Bush’s spokeswoman said that emails from the private account unrelated to government business weren’t turned over to the state or preserved. […]

But much like with Mrs. Clinton, the decision over which emails should be considered official and which remain private was made by Mr. Bush. It is unclear how many emails Mr. Bush withheld because he deemed them unrelated to state business.

This is why all politicians and diplomats need to be issued a .gov address. And prosecuted for using any other e-mail system for official business.

They can still have a personal email address, IMO, but they need to make it accessible to some kind of outside auditor.

Of course they can have personal e-mail addresses. We don't need them talking about what's for dinner on a .gov. But, all official business must be carried out on the .gov, both for scrutiny and security. This shouldn't even be debatable. Everyone I talk to is quite shocked to learn of this. Most people just assumed that the SOS was conducting business on secure government systems.

Yup, that is a significant issue, and one of many reasons why Jeb is not the best candidate for Republicans this go-round. He's the candidate most likely to turn the Clinton name from a liability into an asset.

I can't read that article because I'm not a subscriber to WSJ. Can you tell me what State laws and regulations Jeb Bush is subject to in regard to this issue?

In any case, it would be very, very smart for any person, whether a public or private employee, to keep their work-related stuff and their personal stuff totally separated. Kind of a no-brainer, if you ask me.

I'm not dismissing the server issue, or the questions around Clinton's actions. Just pointing out that the hypocrisy from the scandal mongers is quite telling.

Looks like this may become another Benghazi.

Even if he did behave within the law (which I'm not knowledgeable enough about Florida state law to say), his handling of emails isn't terribly different from Clinton's.

Not sure. What statute did you have in mind?
