USS Intrepid museum in New York is well worth a look too especially now they have one of the space shuttles there . I must be one of the few people to have seen both the Soviet Buran shuttle and the US shuttle Atlantis in Florida too.

I've always had a soft spot for the B58 too. Its an aircraft that looks dramatic from every angle but it was so dangerous to operate that it was the only major US type not deployed to Vietnam even though it could be configured for carrying conventional ordinance

I actually went to the Intrepid - but that was long before they got the space shuttle. Very interesting as well. I found the ship as interesting as the planes. I was kinda hung over at the time, so I could not enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

I have read much about the Hustler. Apparently, one of the major problems with it was if one of the engines flamed out during supersonic flight that if the pilot did not immediately throttle back the other engines that the plane could disintegrate from too much yaw.
I also read somewhere that there was a rumour that they secretly tested four B-58's in Vietnam. It was probably just a rumour.

Here is a video of low level testing of the Hustler.

    Hundreds? Wow.
