Univ. of Oklahoma severs ties with frat after racist chant

Absolutely not. We were taught to be "true gentlemen" (our motto). We took it very seriously. We kicked out one brother who had a few racial incidents.

Hatuey insists that SAE promotes racism. SAE national.

Not to mention, irrelevant. A church is a private entity. The University of Oklahoma is a public entity.

True, we've had threads debating just such situations. Churches who don't allow gay pastors and that sort of thing garner huge ridicule.

You're trying REALLY hard to extrapolate his words to involve the entire organization. He's discussing HIS fraternity 14 years ago. He's not discussing SAE in general like you claimed.

When all else fails, fall back on the "all people are racist" argument. Hey, can you show us a black fraternity with a history of doing anything similar to the detailed history of SAE's racism? Thanks. :)

What part failed? SAE isn't going anywhere. Sure one racist chapter is getting shut down, which is very appropriate, but the fraternity is still the largest in the nation. Do you know what failed means? Are you even arguing a valid point anymore?

You didn't even read it. Unreal.

And if SAE promoted racism as you claim they do, they would have been promoting it 14 years ago. Remember, according to you, they've been promoting racism for decades....how about that incident in 1983? And 2002? All that evidence that shows they have a history of promoting racism?

You can't even keep up with your own ridiculous claims.

Huh? That's exactly what I said earlier.

OK, I'm confused because this is what I quoted and responded to - "You said you're glad they're in the open. Why? The only thing that came out of them being in the open are death threats."

But if we agree, that's fine. I'm just confused what you meant by that quote.

I guess because he feels his 3 or 4 examples justify it.

When you've got nothing to add to the discussion, driveby post. Classic American. :)

Hatuey is just being extreme. Their argument is very odd, oh well. No skin off my back. Fraternities are great ways to network after college. I served with some SAE's. We're the biggest fraternity in the nation. There are bound to be many bad apples. No frat actually promotes racism (as a whole). That's just a bigoted way of thinking.

Lol, relax, I make too much money to worry about Mickey Mouse Clubs. I'm glad you stopped to throw in your two cents and irrelevancy though. Hey, but here is your alleged fraternity acknowledging what you wont:

Fraternity to investigate racist 'incidents' elsewhere

Now move along, we've no time for your centrist views... ;)

 don't forget:

Animal House came out in 1978, two years before I entered college. I have to admit, when I saw it I was like WTF, is all of that true? It was, in a lot of ways. I was in the Greek system at my college - Greeks were huge. The only people who didn't pledge were either nerdy, odd, or hockey players (they weren't allowed to). I went to a private university.

  I guess we were just nerdy or odd since we weren't so very cool and like totally in the popular crowd to join one. You gotta be in the cool crowd baby to understand da Greeks and we just cant understand.

Pero esos locos griegos defendera nada, verdad?

Of course doubtful you read my other posts, AS USUAL......drive-by read.

So would most people. But what does it have to do with a claim that an entire organization promotes racism?

I don't claim the whole organization promotes racism but it makes you think that it just might be more than a coincidence that different chapters seem to embrace it.

What it says. They and their families are now getting death threats. What other good thing came out of their names being made public?

I guess I don't think Free Speech is good because it brings those who exercise their rights out in the open. I look at it as being good because it's far better than having no right to speak or think, and having the government tell us what to think or speak.

What do the people who live in Alabama now have to do with this discussion?
For that matter, what do the people who lived in Alabama in 1856 have to do with it?[

So you can't show us a single black fraternity with a history of doing anything similar to what SAE has done for years? Good. I didn't think your "everyone is racist" argument held any water anyways. Now move along, we've no time for your Mickey Mouse Clubs and centrist views.

Hatuey claims the whole organization promotes racism. That's what he (the other poster) was posting about.

There's a big difference in a few chapters having stupid young yahoos and a large group of adults promoting racism.

And? What does them being founded in Alabama 150 years ago have to do with anything? And more importantly, what do the people in Alabama today have to do with anything?

What does my "lean say"? Sure doesn't say what yours does, "liberal extremist".

I was talking about my college, or did you just conveniently skip over the words "my college"? WTF is this about?

I thought it was funny how people who didn't join a fraternity or sorority at your school was characterized as nerdy, odd, or hockey player.
