Univ. of Oklahoma severs ties with frat after racist chant

Reading comprehension, it helps you avoid making such asinine statements. What has been asked is for you to show a history of an organization. Not a single incident. That's what's been done in this thread. Continuing to ignore it won't help you.

It sounds like SAE needs to do some soul searching.

In December of 2014, SAE’s Clemson University chapter hosted a “Cripmas” party, named after the California-based “Crips” street gang. Photos of the incident depicted attendees at this party flashing gang signs and dressed in costumes intended to make them look like gang members. Much of the chapter’s leadership resigned after this incident, and the chapter “suspended all activity indefinitely” shortly after the incident, according to a statement by SAE’s national office.

In 2006, an SAE member at the University of Memphis quit the fraternity after two other frat members harassed him for dating a black woman. According to an editorial in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the former SAE member “said SAE members used the N-word to refer to his girlfriend” and that they “also suggested that he must have met Darden on the street one night and that he couldn’t possibly be interested in a real relationship with someone of another race.” The Associated Press later reported that two students were suspended by SAE’s national office after they determined that these students “made comments that were inappropriate and unbecoming.”

In 2006, SAE’s Baylor University chapter hosted an “E-Dawg”-themed party that the university’s NAACP chapter labeled “insensitive.” According to the Baylor Lariat, pictures “captured students wearing bandanas and holding 40-ounce bottles in brown paper during the party. One of the pictures depicted a student who covered herself in bronzer in imitation of a black person.” The pictures were discovered after they were posted to Facebook.

In 2000, SAE’s Oglethorpe University chapter was put on probation, along with chapters from three other fraternities, after an incident where African American students visiting from other schools faced racial harassment and assault. According to one news report uncovered on Nexis, officials at two predominantly black colleges that competed in a cross-county meet at Oglethorpe “complained that Oglethorpe students in fraternity houses threw bottles at athletes and screamed racial epithets.”

In 2009, Valdosta State University in Georgia hosted a community forum on “Heritage, Hate or Fear?” that was inspired by the university’s SAE chapter’s practice of flying a Confederate Flag on its front lawn. A lawyer for the fraternity’s national headquarters warned that the chapter could lose its charter if it continued to fly the flag.

Well, what do you know, more incidents. It definitely can't be the organization. I mean, if it's just random people, why doesn't every fraternity have these stories by the dozen? Why doesn't the YMCA have entire racist establish? Yep, they're all unrelated. Just a few bad apples not linked by anything. I mean, it's not like they're acting as SAE members. They're just ... you know, random kids. That's what people want us to believe.

It would appear to be a particular culture within this organization. To change it they may need to diversify.

The incident I listed is not the only incident of black people killing white people. That's my point.

Many blacks have killed whites. Does that mean all black people want to kill white people? I guarantee you that more incidents of a black person killing white people have happened than racial incidents in SAE.

By your logic, that should suggest all black people have the agenda to kill white people.

That's an unfair and wrong assumption.

Hey Fiddy, you're talking about the Andrew Lohse book "Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy" that came out a few years ago. He was an SAE at Dartmouth. I know the book/story well because I live in NH and it was big news when it came out. It was also proven to be 99% bull****. He said things in the book that supposedly go on in the Greek system at Dartmouth (which I believe something like 65% of the students are members of) that are illegal, prompting the NH police to get involved and launch official investigations. There was not a single person who corroborated his stories - not one. He's making an "anti-Greek" career and it's all based on falsehoods. But in his book, which I actually read, he never mentioned any racism in SAE. He blamed SAE (and the Greek system in general) for his drug problem that almost killed him. And he accused the Greeks of hazing (which is illegal). If there was any truth to his tales, there would have been at least 1 other person who attended Dartmouth who would corroborate - and nobody did.

You can Google all this. But anything he would have to say - good or bad - would be discounted anyway since almost his entire story was a lie.

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep in mind.

If you're interested in a good fiction, read it. I did. But again, only because it was big news here in NH, and I mean BIG when it came out. The administration at Dartmouth was about to shut the Greek system down when cooler heads prevailed and they brought in the NH State Police, because most of what he claimed went on was illegal. Turns out it was mostly lies. He's now making a career out of bashing fraternities. All of them. His audience includes idiots who pretend to know about what goes on in fraternities, as they drool and hang on his every word. I guess it's an honest living...sort of.

Wow , 46 pages on this topic. I really find it hard the national director has promoted this agenda but this is what this fraternity seems to have evolved into.
They did the right thing in expelling guilty members.

But if you are a racist student entering the greek system this frat would be the most accomdating to you. So the racist students joins that frat just as another student avoids it due to the reputation. It becomes self-fulfilling.

It is like in every major town there is that "park" that gangs have taken over. More gang members in , more citizens out of it. The city doesn't promote the gangs but that park has earned that reputation.
