Obama and Others at Selma

It's not spin, it's fear.

It's an immoral system IMHO:
"Vote for us, we'll give you free stuff and support because you can't do it on your own and those mean republicans will take it away"
Whole generations of blacks have come through the system being told that they CANNOT succeed or get by without the Government hand outs.

And that, is sad.

Oh I see. It's the "blacks are lazy and looking for handouts" argument that YOU are making to say that the other side is racists. You must be getting dizzy.

I'm not the one saying it, ya'll do. Every day.
MSNBC talk show rabble rouser Al Sharpton essentially delivered an ultimatum from African Americans to the government on Sunday: give us more federal benefits or we won’t stop rioting and will never take responsibility for our families.
Sharpton, who has been crisscrossing the country for months leading riots from coast to coast, visited the Sunday political show Meet the Press where he insisted that the only thing that keeps blacks from acting irresponsibly is government freebies.

The Alabama New South Coalition (ANSC), whose stated purpose is “to promote the general welfare of all people through independent focused organizations dedicated to progressive ideals of freedom, justice and democracy,” appears to be working to accomplish those goals through a simple method — fear.

The group is disseminating a mailer to black households around the state warning them that if they do not vote, the state will be controlled by “extremists” who will take away their “right to speak,” continuously conduct drug raids “only in the Black community,” and “honor klansmen,” among other things.

You know what the Conservative answer to this is?

"We'll help you, if you help yourself. We're offering you a way out of the mire, the muck, not a way to survive in it, but a way to rise out through hard work, sacrifice and education."
That's the Conservative message, not "Vote for us, we'll give you stuff."

Conservatives answer to this is suppress black voting.

Georgia State Senator Complains That Voting Is Too Convenient For Black People

Yeah... All repubs REALLY want to do is help black people.

Actually he's angry at a blatantly political move to increase the likely hood high democrat voters get extra voting opportunities, not that it's blacks voting more.

But don't let that stop you from braying the party line.

OOOOOhhhhh. I see. It's the blacks are gonna cheat by voting twice argument. You are humiliating yourself.

Oh there is. There is a whole party of political belief centered on how minorities cannot succeed without the help and guidance of rich white people. A whole political ideology that says "You are not smart enough, good enough or able to get ahead in life without our benevolent care, guidance and support."

I happen to find that ideology repugnant myself, but you... embrace it.

The last thing the democrats want is for minorities to think that they are good enough to succeed without help from, who else, the democrats. They always talk about government programs, taxing the rich for more money, free college, free, lunch, etc... They avoid ever telling people that they can do it on their own. Always reinforcing that they need help, that they are just not as good.

He is as white as he is black. You could say he is the first president that is half black.

You do realize that is a racist statement.... worrying about how black someone is. Especially since that did not qualify him to sit in the middle of the bus in 1959, stay in cheapest room of a premium Atlanta hotel in 1955 nor play half a season of major league baseball in 1946.

Sorry pal, but we whites chose to classify anyone that looked black as black. We remanded them to the back of bus and second class status by mere look. There was no test of degree of black. If they were somewhat black, they were black. Now that blacks have some semblance of the glory of equality. They are fully entitled to enjoy all of that glory. They worked hard and fought hard as did many of our fellow citizens for this day. It should not have it belittled, comprised or otherwise diminished by such bigoted statements.

Completely irrelevant. I don't know where you get worrying, or racist from. You on the left are always seeing race first.

You are mixing up two different things, fact and perception. Fact is, without a doubt, his racial makeup is 50% white and 50% black. Absolutely no doubt there. But, you perceive him to be a black man. You've been conditioned that way, many people will quite easily go along with this because they want it to be true. They've been conditioned to be this way.

But look at him. No where near as dark as his father. No where near as white as his mother. Just about in the middle. He has features from both, not just his father's. But even if he had no white features and his skin color wasn't so light, he is still 50/50.

...

Obama marched at Selma, but he wouldn't march, in Paris, against Isis. Does that tell you anything?

Those who marched in Paris are ****ing hypocrites.

Didn't our president say he was born because of Selma or something equally stupid?

So he lied about where he was born AND what year?

What a bastard!

That people who equate walking 1200 feet across a bridge with an original 54 mile march is a testament to how soft society has become maybe.....

Maybe the Kenyan Calendar and the American Calendar don't correspond because of all the leap years. :poke

Even this was made political.

No, it wasn't.

“Just so you know, President Bush was not cropped out, he was not in that frame because he was so far to our right,”

“I did not even send this frame because it’s very wide and super busy and Bush is super-overexposed because he was in the sun and Obama and the others are in the shade,”

So he lied about where he was born AND what year?

What a bastard!

What, are you disappointed? Where you expecting something different? Why let facts get in the way of a good story? The sad thing is, he knows he can tell this to all his followers and they will obediently believe it. At least I know I would seriously question my support for someone that treated me that way. But he knows that liberals are a "the ends justifies the means" type group.

We should never forget our history, but we should memorialize our accomplishments instead of our failures and move forward instead of harping on the past like some old biddy.

They have a plausible excuse for everything. Less than 50 men have been President, you don't leave one out no matter what. I call bull****.

good to know.

So you believe he did lie about where he was born and his age?

What he lied about was the march at Selma inspiring his parents to have a child, that turned out to be him. Pay attention, he didn't even state his date of birth or age.

Call me when there are marches and protest of black on black crime, call me when we hear the people of Chicago are rioting over a gangland shooting.

Oh, wait... you'll never call....

Ok...

Black community is concerned with black-on-black crime: Suggesting otherwise is ignoring the facts.

You may not have noticed black protests against crime, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t happened.

...

“Do black people care about crime in their neighborhoods?”

... [a little context:] In the last 20 years, we’ve seen a sharp drop in homicide among blacks, from a victimization rate of 39.4 homicides per 100,000 in 1991 to a rate of roughly 20 homicides per 100,000 in 2008. Likewise, the offending rate for blacks has dropped from 51.1 offenders per 100,000 in 1991 to 24.7 offenders per 100,000 in 2008. This decrease has continued through the 2010s and is part of a larger—and largely unexplained—national drop in crime. But while black neighborhoods are far less dangerous than they were a generation ago, black people are still concerned with victimization.

...

In the last four years, blacks have held community protests against violence in Chicago; New York; Newark, New Jersey; Pittsburgh; Saginaw, Michigan; and Gary, Indiana.

So, it turns out these protests may not be garnering national headlines, but they do take place.

Oh it happens, in small groups, from time to time. You had to use the same link twice and have 4 examples from 2012 through 2014.

Very good.

No how many antiploice protest?

I think you'll find it's more then 4 in 2 years, yet the number of blacks shot by police is a fraction of those killed by other blacks.

That was the real point.

You got the evidence you were looking for - that Black people DO care about Black-on-Black crime and that we DO hold protests where such crimes are committed. Why then do you go out of your way to downplay (i.e., "Oh, it happens...in small groups...from time-to-time.") or attempt to discredit the evidence presented (i.e., "same link twice and have 4 examples from 2012 through 2014"). The fact that Mr. Invisible (myself and perhaps others) have presented you with links to articles that clearly demonstrate that Blacks DO hold protests against Black-on-Black crime and have done so recently should have been enough to quite the chatter on this false perception. Why continue complaining on this tangent?

What he lied about was the march at Selma inspiring his parents to have a child, that turned out to be him. Pay attention, he didn't even state his date of birth or age.

Ah...do you have any links to that lie? I didnt see it reported anywhere.

I agree. It's why I haven't commented on the Selma 50th Anniversary celebration in the sense of a reflection of the wrongs that were committed in the past. Instead, I've reflected on just how far we have come and shared my positive experience while in Selma for the 50th Anniversary event.

What, is your Google broken or something? Not reported anywhere? It's not exactly a piece of trivia. But here, I did it for you...

CNN.com - Transcripts

took 0.3 seconds.

I read it. Nowhere does it say he was conceived because of Selma. He said 'I'm here today because of the people that marched.' He was HERE, speaking a function and running for president. You cant just pull it out of context of the entire exchange they were having.

I love love love love it! The same kind of blind obedience and imprisonment in a rigid mind that only allows someone to interpret something according to their own preconceived notions, not realty. Just like the Birthers! :lamo What a great example, thanks.

If I missed what you were referring to, please post the quote and a general area of the article.
