US Ambassador Attacked, Hurt in South Korea.....

Yeah but after Benghazi.....wherein several committees found lacking security and the failure to note clear warning signs.

The issue was suppose to be taken care of.....wasn't it? Meaning there was suppose to be focus on all levels of security, Right?

Good point.

Benghazi was a total cluster(bleep!) on the part of the state department, IMO of course. Did they at least lock the barn door to keep the rest of the horses from getting out? Perhaps not.

Yeah, but on the flip side, is it realistic to put South Korea and Benghazi in the same category of threat risk? I'm thinking not.

But still, it's a good point that State should have reviewed and reenforced their personnel protection plans at all levels in the Benghazi aftermath.

Yes its realistic.....and especially after ISIS has declared war on us. Both AQ and ISIS have called for kidnappings and the killings of Americans. They are calling out lone wolves to attack us. Nutcases I guess would be considered in on that.

So why would any guard be dropped for diplomats speaking in public anywhere else. I wouldn't care if it was Canada. Oh wait, they have had attacks there too.

Yeah, OK. I can see your point, but the two aren't on the same threat / risk level, you have to admit that. To be without security at all? That's not right, I'll agree to that.

I can see the threat level being a bit lower.....but then after N Korea launches a couple of missiles at the exercises. From that moment our people should be on a High Alert. Despite the North's bluffs and threats.

Another thing, IMO.....wouldn't take much for the North to have infiltrated into South Korea. Or have some insurgents already there.

Same thought crossed my mind just as I was reading bluffs and threats. :)

What happened to the Ambassador was terrible, in light of being in a place that could have easily been protected. Hope he recovers fully from his injuries, regaining full use of his fingers, wishing him all the best.

After Benghazi and the current threats from ISIS, the state should be protecting our Ambassadors.
What aren't they in light of the past? Disappointing to see this happen.

Security missing? Again? A State Department function? Well, at least it's not a Benghazi.

What's with Democrats and their inherent lack of care for their own people's security?

Kerry's carrying on sHillary's tradition of leaving our diplomats defenseless.

Would seem so.

Wasn't to important to the left, huh EB? Usually when something like this happens. They usually head for the hills.

No way for them to cover for their Man BO peep nor that Democratic party.....that's on the ropes

The attacker was a left-leaning activist who claimed he attacked the ambassador because he was offended by the "annual joint military exercises that the United States started this week with South Korea".

Mornin CJ. :2wave: He is okay and has sent out a Tweet. 80 stitches to his face tho. Doesn't say much For BO peep and those Democrats for staying on top of things.....does it?

Here is the piece on the N Koreans.

The U.S. ambassador to South Korea was slashed by a man screaming demands for Korean unification Thursday morning in Seoul, and was hospitalized with wounds to his face and wrist in an attack that North Korea called "a deserved punishment on war maniac U.S." North Korea's state-controlled media later crowed that "knife slashes of justice" were "a deserved punishment on war maniac U.S." and reflected the South Korean people's protests against the U.S. for driving the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war because of the joint military drills.

So, the justice knife shall slash the way through the US ambassador in order to unite Korea?!

Mornin' 3D. :2wave: One again BO and Team dropped the ball. That's how it should be looked upon.

The position is crazyness at its best!

Yeah it is.....All Ambassadors speaking out and traveling in Public. Should have security with them.

Yup, you would have stopped that madman if you were his bodyguard, MMC. :2razz:

Mornin Pos. :2wave: Yeah.....I would have had my left-hand man take care of that. KnowWhatImean. :2razz:

You try to pin this to a "Left VS Right" ideology, but the my position is that: The assailant should be crazy to believe that he could slash his way through the US ambassador in order to achieve the unification of Korea!

I don't think he had the thought.....his action would bring that result.

Maybe he was thinking it was a way to start a war or some ****. Attack someone who represents the US government and all. But the guy has serious mental issues though. It was told yesterday in the SK press that the guy has done this before with the shouting and ****. He went to an event from Hyundai (or sponsored by Hyundai I think?) and it had a popular boyband there called EXO (they're very huge in Korea 30,000 people attended a fan meeting of their's earlier this year from SK alone) and the guy went and was shouting the same stuff. The police investigated and saw he had mental issues. So, that explains why he thought he could slash his way to war. Guns generally aren't a thing in SK. Even the police have high restrictions for when and how etc to carry.

Slash his way to war? He is from SK not NK, right?

Plus, how does a war that started from a knife slash with US unifies Korea?

I'm glad he is going to be ok. I knew him back when he worked at DoD. He was always nice to me in the few interactions we had. I didn't know he had made AMBO.

That's what you get with people who have mental issues....Guns aren't a thing in SK so...
