Retired Israeli veterans warn against speech

Yes... Im sure... are you?

by Thomas Rose26 Jan 2015822

Just days after the Obama White House accused House Speaker John Boehner of “breaking protocol” by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, a team of up to five Obama campaign operatives has reportedly arrived in Israel to lead a campaign to defeat the Israeli Prime Minister in upcoming national elections scheduled for March 17.

The anti-Netanyahu, left wing Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports a group called “One Voice,” reportedly funded by American donors, is paying for the Obama campaign team. That group is reportedly being led by Obama’s 2012 field director Jeremy Bird.

As Jerusalem Post columnist and putative Knesset candidate Caroline Glick reported on her Facebook page, “Obama won’t meet Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington when he addresses the Joint Houses of Congress in March because of Netanyahu’s visit’s proximity to the Israeli elections. And Obama, of course believes in protocol and propriety which is why he won’t get involved.” And yet, Glick adds, “He’s just sending his 2012 field campaign manager to Israel to run a campaign to defeat Netanyahu.”

Mr. Dermer, an American-born former Republican political operative who is so close to Mr. Netanyahu that he is often called “Bibi’s brain,” became Israel’s envoy to the United States in 2013. White House officials were at first wary that Mr. Dermer would politicize relations between the United States and Israel, but over time cultivated a working relationship with him after concluding that there were advantages in his closeness to Mr. Netanyahu.

It's amazing what goes on behind the scenes that we never hear about! Israel has a right to be concerned about their safety, since they appear to be a primary target of Iran's hostility towards Zionism, so I understand their reasons for wanting to bomb a nuclear facility in Iran. Any delays caused by an Israeli strike on Iran lets the Israeli people live a while longer in relative safety, I guess, and I can't fault them for that, and Israel is careful not to injure Iranian civilians in their bombing raids.

Sadly, unavoidable even if they pulled it off the Iranians will produce dead civilians and certain folk will lap it up

I think that Iran is already too far along in the development of its nuclear program that it cannot be stopped by one single millitary strike.

They first have to realize that this dream state of "Debt is not big deal" has to end. I'm ready to run for the hills myself. I have family, and land I can live off of if **** goes down. But most of these people who think being without a cell phone is cruel and inhuman punishment? I don't see much of a future. The OWS type protests will sweep across the land, society will break down and some strong, "I have the answers" person will rise up and the starving, scared masses will beg this person to make the chaos stop. FDR got his rise because of fear, and hopelessness. But there was a stronger sense of duty, pride of country and self. This prevented a bad turn of events.

Today? With how many kids are taught America is just a bad country with many sins? Taught to rely on others to care for them?

Ripe for the picking, and we have no one to blame but ourselves if it happens.

You know what I find ironic? The AGW people have been portrayed as favoring people living in caves with no electricity "to save the planet." One careless mistake by a country with a nuclear bomb, and the survivors may indeed find themselves living that way, and climate wouldn't have had a thing to do with it!

Every nation deserves nuclear weapons... it is arrogant for the USA to try and limit them...

It would be a huge strike along multiple fronts. The Israelis dont **** around.

Won't you ever stop with the stupid statements. That Iran does not want a bomb. You yelp and open threads if an Israeli buys an apartment in Jerusalem, yet could care less if Iran is able to build a bomb.

Do you live in the Midwest of Iran, or do you just agree with their wish to annihilate Israel?

But he is not saying it, it is the Washington Post saying it.

And would such a strike deter Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon? No, more likely it would inspire them to put all of their energy into developing a weapon with which to retaliate.

So... air strikes are out, diplomacy failed... we need to learn to live with a nuclear Iran right? And a nuclear Saudi Arabia and a Nuclear Egypt....

The policy of M.a.d is still in effect.

That assumes all parties are rationale. A failing you ignore to push "peace at any cost".
Radio Free Europe – “An Iranian government spokesman has said that outgoing President Mahmud Ahmadinejad will return with the Hidden Imam, who according to Shi’ite belief went into hiding in the 10th century and will reappear to bring justice to Earth.

‘[Allah] willing, with the manifestation of Imam Mehdi, Ahmadinejad will also return and work for the establishment of pure Islam,’ spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by Iranian news agencies.

Ahmadinejad and his close aides have been criticized in Iran over their repeated references to Mahdi and signs of his imminent coming.

What about the retired Israeli veterans who don't appreciate twenty five years of Netanyahu crying wolf??

The ayatollah never risked his life by leading his troops on the frontline of battle.

It was your typo. Nevermind... your statement is too convoluted. I think the Iranians wouldn't mind losing millions to accomplish a goal and the last war isn't analogous to fighting Israel.

Would the Iranian political leadership be that willing to attack isreal at the cost of their lives and their countries political power?

Hypothetical... who knows. I don't think it is worth finding out.
