i'm no fan of Obama but I don't believe that story for one second.

I would like to think it was a far fetched story but if it is true, Obama was bluffing. Problem is Israel is still to dependent on the US so if it wasn't a bluff and Obama actually grew a set for once, Israel would be the biggest loser in the exchange. I am surprised that Israel hasn't hit Iran's nuke locations yet - this has been simmering for nearly a decade and Israel has shown they do not need the US to agree, but they do need the US to say they won't interfere.

It also makes sense that IF this actually did happen as the article states, it would explain the deep distrust between Obama's WH and Bibi at this point and why Bibi could care less if Obama is pissed off at his addressing the Congress. The jews are not stupid by any stretch of the imagination nor is Bibi - there must be a longer term plan that is advantageous for him to still come to the US even with all the Dems frothing at the mouth about it.

Former US diplomat Zbigniew Brzezinski, who enthusiastically campaigned for Obama in 2008, called on him to shoot down Israeli planes if they attack Iran. “They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?” said the former national security advisor to former President Jimmy Carter in an interview with the Daily Beast.
(from source) Considering the people Obama listens too and respects, it's not so far fetched. I just wonder how many US Pilots would actually pull the trigger on such a mission.

I wonder how Netty's domestic politics will be affected by him making the speech.

He has been invited and spoke before, Obama didn't even notice. That tells me Obama is afraid of what Netty will say and is trying to discredit him in beforehand

There is differences in points of view on domestic issues and policy in Israel. But NOT regarding Iran getting nukes. Certainly the Obama admin and demos are HOPING it will have a negative impact on Bibis election chances in Israel, but they are the only people who think and hoping it will.

Ok, did Obama say it or did someone in his administration, once again, say something stupid?

The source is an unreliable source, known to be such.
The story is 99.999999999% untrue.

Option 3: It's a fabrication from beginning to end.

No, I'm sure the Labor party in Israel shares any hopes for a bad showing by Bibi.

Well... this is from the story (quote below), and it's not make-believe. It's who Demokrats are. Why wouldn't Obama do it? He's openly hostile to Israel, is a guy who negotiates with terrorists, dropped the plan for a shield for Poland (on the anniversary of the Russian invading Poland), negotiates secretly with an insane regime to allow them to have nukes... Obama is fully capable of it if you just look at who:

He is.
He associated with. Anti-Americans, racists and terrorists.

Why should this surprise?

Brzezinski, as noted in the article was to be a top advisor... but they couldn't call on him officially because it would reveal who Obama is deep down.

“We have to be serious about denying them that right,” he said. “If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a 'Liberty' in reverse.’"

Israel mistakenly attacked the American Liberty ship during the Six-Day War in 1967.

Brzezinski was a top candidate to become an official advisor to President Obama, but he was downgraded after Republican and pro-Israel Democratic charges during the campaign that Brzezinski’s anti-Israel attitude would damage Obama at the polls.

Ok, did Obama say it or did someone in his administration, once again, say something stupid?

The source is israelnationalnews.com citing an unidentified Kuwaiti newspaper, so my first question would actually be whether or not any of this happened in the first place.

So, a guy who Obama didn't hire says we should shoot down Israeli airplanes that cross our air exclusion zone in Iraq without permission.

That's your evidence?

Well, no, it's the fact that Obama would have hired him if it weren't for those pesky jews.

HotAir.Com sums it up best:

"Right up front, even though there are multiple outlets talking about this story today, there simply isn’t enough information available to say how much credibility we should lend this report at the moment. It’s apparently sourced from an Israeli news outlet who is quoting a Kuwaiti paper who is quoting a nameless source. I’ve yet to see anyone else with direct knowledge of the alleged events stepping up to verify it."

Did Obama threaten to shoot down Israeli planes if they attacked Iran? « Hot Air

So we really don't know if this story is true or not.

I can believe the story and if it's true it shows that Pres. Obama has bigger balls than most people give him credit.

Bibi is essentially going around sticking his hands in other people's cool aid living off the very protection the U.S. largely provides. For all those who are condemning Pres. Obama's actions, if true, I wonder if you'd been so negative if you learned that say...Germany...a U.S. European ally...would have tried to thwart Reagan's negotiations with Russia at the height of the Cold War?

Apples and oranges, perhaps seeing as the world wasn't so "hot" back then. Still, the principle of the matter is the same. Folks who look at such a maneuver, if true, as an American President not supporting their Israeli ally, I think have it backwards. I see it as the reverse: An Israeli ally not trusting that its American ally truly has its back.

If the Iran nuclear negotiations do succeed, it would mean peace for Israel for years to come seeing as their greatest geo-political threat in the region is Iran. Let the negotiations proceed. And if they fall threw, Israel can carry forward with their raid with no interference from the U.S. or the world.

EDIT: WH deniers already on it.

Obama Official: IAF Shoot Down Threat Story "Totally False"

Let's have a better framing:
So, a guy who Obama wanted very much to hire but did not because he would reveal his liek minded far left anti-Israel tendencies says we should shoot down Israeli airplanes that cross our air exclusion zone in Iraq without permission.

That's part of the evidence?

Yes, it is part of the evidence...

...as is the following from the start of the article you seemed not to have taken a few moments to read.

There is more, but we have rules against posting too much, so you will have to tax yourself physically, as well as mentally (by having the fortitude to actually read it) by clicking the link and move your eyeballs across the screen.

The Bethlehem-based news agency Ma’an has cited a Kuwaiti newspaper report Saturday, that US President Barack Obama thwarted an Israeli military attack against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2014 by threatening to shoot down Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran.

Following Obama's threat, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was reportedly forced to abort the planned Iran attack.

Obama's threat... but who supplied the idea?
I wonder?

I am not sure our military would ever follow that order.

An unauthorized military incursion into airspace the U.S. controls that is outright refusing instruction to turn back? They don't need orders from the White House to engage.
