Did the read the story and then read the legal advice from the lawyer? Throwing your **** down and running because you're asked for a receipt while leaving the store rather than just saying, "I need a cart" is almost always going to garner unwelcome attention. And the link does not contradict what I said. The only reason they were standing there was because the individual admittedly was leaving the store with a handful of groceries that weren't paid for.

    From your link

Shoplifting can be based upon concealing goods within a store such as in your pockets or within bags.
so, you(r link you posted to back your claim) verifies that assumed intent can be enough to convict.
    so much for the 'innocent'

Imagine you池e browsing at Bloomingdale痴 when a security guard taps you on the shoulder and accuses you of shoplifting. He takes you to a private room, sits you down, and runs your name through a database to see if you have any outstanding warrants. Then he tells you that you have two options. The first involves him calling the police, who might arrest you and take you to jail. The second allows you to walk out of the store immediately, no questions asked羊ight after you sign an admission of guilt and agree to pay $320 to take an online course designed to make you never want to steal again.

    Which would you choose?
save him the trouble ill call the police

Read that lawyer's advice more closely. "Can be" doesn't mean will. The prosecutor still has to show intent. In any event, the story poster made the whole thing into a stew when he took the actions he did. He might as well screamed intent. He can still explain his way out of it in court. But he'd never have been hassled if he had just used his words, simple words really, "I need a cart".

Yes, so? Shouldnt repeat offenders receive more scrutiny?

What can I say? A few counties are old school than. Have you been around?

The lefties of the forum believe helping thieves helps them. Yes, they really do.

you are not being intellectually honest

    I asked you

    1) read your link

    2) compare to the statutes I linked to

do you still think all people without intent are immune to prosecution ?
