House Fails to Approve Funds for Homeland Security

    Now who will wear this?
    The Republicans or the Democrats.
Security threats on the rise and they shut down the main agency.
Appears to be a repeat of the last attempted shutdown of the Govt.

WASHINGTON — Republicans vowing to govern effectively as a congressional majority failed a fundamental test Friday evening, when House leaders could not pass a temporary measure to avert a partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, leaving lawmakers scrambling for a solution before money was to run out at midnight.

In a stunning and humiliating setback for Speaker John A. Boehner and his leadership team, the House voted 224 to 203 against their plan to extend funding for the department for three weeks.

Republicans to be sure, but it's not due to it being any more their fault than the White House. But when you have so much of the media in the hand of Liberals, well they get to set the narrative.

The Republicans proclaimed after the 2014 elections that they would return governing to Washington as they assumed the majorities in both chambers, but alas that was a lie

Ideological stances on issues rather than efficient management of government responsibilities and functions is political malpractice

The immigration executive action is in the hands of the courts where its constitutionality will be decided and tying it to the funding of DHS was simply ignorance of political realities in the country and the Republican leadership is solely at fault for this black eye on the party once again. McConnell and Boehner have shown no signs of being able to govern in the majority, but rather spend their time and efforts on attacking the president's agenda rather than advancing a realistic one of their own.

This will be a millstone around the neck of the party in 2016 and was totally unnecessary, a self inflicted wound of the worst kind

Trying ta tag the immigration issues from Obama was not going to fly.
This is not liberal or conservative.
The case is now frozen by a judicial ruling.
it is now up for appeal.
The US has, and numerous agencies, politicians state, have a security issue with ISIL.

How well will it play if there is a successful attack?
US has been lucky so far. And it has been lucky.
Odds are always increasing of a successful attack on US soil.
And that is fact, the longer the term of attacks interrupted, the odds increase dramatically of a successful attack.

As I've stated elsewhere, all the vital national security stuff will continue to function even if the DHS bill isn't passed, the same as occurred with the Government Shutdown. After all, it's not like the military stopped fighting did they?

Bottom line. 85% of the DHS workers will remain on the job. Pay will be on furlough. In a couple of weeks of Boehner looking the fool, the House will pass funding. And Congress will limp to their next cluster-****.

Approx 10 % of staff are working without pay or do not work.
That will be lost to the majority if an attack occurs.
You and I both know that.

Let's face it, the as inevitable as the Shutdown is, it's also inevitable that in a few days (week or two at most) it will be back up and running again. That's why there's no fear of any long term damage. I mean, it's not like the FBI is going to be shut down you know? Sure maybe a few places here and there, but then again, if there not necessary to National Security, are they really that important anyways?

OK. Tell me if an attack takes place how this will play.

The Military doesn't stop fighting if the Government shuts down. Hell, the FBI won't even shut down as a result. Also, DHS doesn't just handle that stuff. FEMA is under that umbrella, and they'll still be dealing with the different natural disasters around the country.
